I think you are being cynical mate. That is not to say that Boris won't rollover at the last minute. I just think that Christmas and covid are the first two big stories of the day, followed by Brexit..

That’s the thing though @Wessa Covid and Christmas stories are perfect to bury a deal with the EU under and hope no one notices:)
According to reports I’m seeing a deal is possible on the EU side which is huge news normally

From what I can make out nobody knows what is going on, communication is all very tightly managed at the moment. The EU will want to put out a positive spin that they are ready to do a deal (likely not to be a good one for us), making it a Boris and UK problem if we end up with no deal. All just spin at the moment I reckon......

Big jump (relatively speaking) in the value of Sterling this morning, expect a deal announcement any day

    This is an interesting read.
The Europäische Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft - Berlin 1942
It may shock most to learn that Nazi ideology was, and still is, behind the EU. The document that follows is the English translation of the original German one as referenced under the World Catalogue OCLC number 31002821 and available in the public domain via various libraries, archives and websites. It is a document of great historical significance and essential to understanding the mindset behind the European Union and where the idea originated. It is the original blueprint for ‘the European Economic Community’ which would later become, as we know, the European Union. Created as a series of seminars by the Third Reich’s Economic Minister and various advisors to Adolf Hitler so that in the event the Nazis should fall to the allies and lose the war, they could complete their plans covertly by subversion, treason and sedition from ‘within each government’. In it you will find the proposal of a one united Europe with one currency, one transport system…and more importantly, the United Kingdom was to be “de-industrialised“, and used for a limited amount of agriculture and tourism. The plan was to usurp each nation’s sovereignty, including Britain, and create a Europe wide dictatorship; and for us, stripping out anything that put the “Great” into “Great Britain”.
Ironically - Marxism, Communism, Socialism, Fascism, and Corporatism have all turned out to be distracting labels for the same ideology and in reading this document, one will find it chilling that most of the changes that the Nazi’s had planned for the United Kingdom have already been implemented. Slowly, but surely, and by covert means, the followers of this ideology, these conspirators, backed by huge financiers, namely the international banking families, have succeeded in infiltrating Westminster through the political system and parts of the Intelligenstia over the last 60 plus years. They have ushered in the Acts and Treaties envisaged in this document – NATO 1947, The Treaty of Paris 1951, Jean Monnet 1952, The Treaty of Rome 1957, European Communities Act 1972, European Monetary System 1979, Single European Act 1987, The Maastrict Treaty 1991, Euro Currency 2002, The Lisbon Treaty 2009.
This manifesto is the foundation that these traitors within our political establishment have been building on since the end of the second world war. It was a means to an end. An ugly end. We may had removed Hitler from power, but the forces behind him pressed on and what was not achieved by arms, has sadly now been established through money, treason and subversion.

The fishing palaver has to be put in context. The EU has recently but very quietly released the catch quotas per area per species. The sand eel quota for 2021 is ZERO. Most other species have had reductions of 75%. Fishing in EU waters has no future as they have cleared them of fish, except for the largest expanse, UK waters. Macron however saw a way out. If he could screw access to non-EU waters French boats could continue taking fish and not be limited by reduced EU quotas as they would be fishing in ours. Very cute. I bet he was counting on getting a deal before the reduced quotas were released. This sneaky bastard thought he could get away with this. He didn’t count on Frost not caving in.

ps. Now ask yourself who, apart from big fish eats sand eels? Normally bigger fish. But not now, not in he EU. They are oil rich and uses to make fish oil, animal feed (imagine cows hoofing out sand eels from the sea), health supplements (for bearded lefties and soy latte consuming pond life) and suchlike. Russian factory ships (operating under EU licences) hoover millions of these poor little critters per hour from our waiters every hour which is why you don’t see them any more.

What we need right now is a hero, someone to stand proud and say “I fought for the UK/EU!!!” (Delete whichever side of the channel you stand)
And we can gaze in awe at their magnificence!!!

Yep. Nothing to do with Brexit of course, but very useful for Macron nonetheless.

There won’t be an opportunity. No EU drivers are going to take a chance on getting trapped over here this week.

Agree there mate, Macron is now politicising COVID for his own gains, stamping his foot Trumpishley:p
Chatting to our Customs brokers on Friday looks like over time most goods will start going Felixstowe/Harwich to Rotterdam rather than Dover/ Calais so the annual French tantrum will diminish considerably in relevance to us (along with France!) and Rotterdam will grow massively as all the goods we used to bring in here then move across to Europe start going directly through Holland because they have a nifty custome solution our snail eating friends don’t have!!

I am also wondering if the new COVID strain will lead to us asking for an extension on the 31/12/20 deadline - I’m still cynical there’s some cover up going on regarding Boris’s intentions:cool::cool:

yeah, it's not a very fair move from France. Just an unnecessary political pressure for the final deal (or no deal).
