I am rebuilding a T140E Am i correct in putting the white O ring direct onto the inlet tappet block and the exhaust block the white O ring sits into the groove. So you have the block plus white ring and an O ring in the push rod tube. Any pictures would also be great. Many thanks
Hi Rocker thanks for the info a great help. What do you mea Hi Rocker what do you mean by band on the inlet tube. Sorry if I am being a bit vague but this bike was in bits. In the manual it shows a metal band on the inlet but do not have one on this engine. Maybe last owner forgot it. On the inlet the white gasket sat onto the tappet block and the tube over the top of gasket the exhaust white gasket sits into a groove and tube sitting on top of the gasket
Have a read here it maybe that someone has changed or substituted the push rod tubes at some point this should help. https://jrcengineering.com/technical-support/understanding-triumph-tappet-blocks-and-pushrod-tubes/ http://vintagebikemagazine.com/technical-articles/push-rod-tubes/
Just to add to the confusion whilst the tube type shown in Rockers diagram above with 3 seals is correct in all of the books for the 750's Triumph did revert to the old style tubes with just 2 external seals and a band at the bottom as a cost saving measure on some models but i have never got to the bottom of it :-(
Now totally confused looking at Rockers drawing it looks like band only on the inlet block looked at my mates T140 and only on the inlet, Tried to order one and told need two.But it would appear that the exhaust white gasket sits inside a groove and the tube also goes into the groove so what is correct.
Just took the sketch from the Internet I didn't draw it My Triton is T140 powered and has a ring on both tubes I've not had it apart so don't know what seals are in it if it's any consolation they both leak like a b@stard
Cheers Rocker. I have ordered two rings will let you know how l get on. Let me have your email and I'll send you some photos
