Recently got a new 2020 Steet Triple R Low. It is awesome! The manual states a fuel capacity of 4.6 gal. Doesn't state whether USA or Imperial. The manual states that the low fuel light goes on when 1.19 gal is left in the tank. MY low fuel light goes on after 105 miles and the Range To Empty states 35 miles. I refueled it when the Range To Empty showed 19 miles. It took 2.2 gal US I calculated MPG to be 44. It appears that most of the fuel capacity/range information is totally made up. I'm guessing that the tank capacity is really 3.4 gallons. What are other folks experiences> Also, I am thinking of installing handlebar risers. Can anyone offer their experiences/brands?
My light comes on @ around 125 miles, I ignore that until around 160 miles, when i fill there is always around 5 litres still in. And I'm not a slow coach, I get around 52 UK ( proper gallons) miles per gallon now she's run in properly. This has improved since I bought the bike new. 2020 Striple RS
I have a new 2020 Street Triple R and have put 3 tanks of gas in so far. My light comes ON around 1/4 tank, so there should be 1.15 gallons left. When I filled up I only add 2.4 gallons. Based on this I assume the gauge is off by 25%. Anyone have a solution? Does it need to be calibrated? On my last tank of gas I ran all the way until there were no bars left, then went to the gas station and put 3.4 gallons in.
When you get a new bike, it kinda "learns" what the mpg is (and therefore mileage) out as you fill it up more. Depends on your right hand really!
I don’t have a clue on miles to the gallon etc. But generally on long distance motorway type travel I get around 120/130 miles before the light comes on. I can get at least another 35/40 miles before I panic and hit the nearest petrol station, but there is always fuel still in the tank.
OK, I have now put 1500 miles on mh 2020 Striple R. Miles per US gallon ranges from 44-52 depending on my throttle hand. The low fuel light comes on anywhere between 105-125 miles. I went 140 miles on my last fill up and it took 2.9 US gallons to fill the tank. I'm calculating that the tank capacity is really about 3.4 US gallons and the range should be between 140-170 miles. So what is the story behind the owners manual stating the tank capacity is 4.6 gallons. Sales hype? Oh! This bike is awesome. Most fun bike I've ever had (15), even more so than my Norton Commando. But that's comparing apples and oranges.
