I've just heard Triumph Glasgow has gone in to receivership. They're a Ducati dealer as well; it's where I bought my Multistrada this year. Don't know about the Triumph side but it's the only Ducati dealer in Scotland as far as I'm aware. It's not huge but a nice environment, and there's a Harley/Indian showroom just opposite for those of a more sedate disposition. A nice venue to meet up and have a look around, either way. I hope they can find a buyer.
Classic cash flow problem created by lockdown killing revenue but not outgoings. Receivership means it’s viable if you have cash reserves until.......Easter? This Government are simply appalling. It’s like medieval bleeding of the patient to cure a relatively minor ailment. The weeping Hancock in Parliament about his family loss is utterly inappropriate for a Minister of the Crown. The step-grandfather of a 42 yr old must have been at least 85 and probably older.
When I was up there in the summer they were doing more business than ever with pent up demand and cash previously allocated for holidays. Their showroom was practically empty and they were struggling to supply demand. I heard the same thing from a couple of car dealerships as well. Covid has a long tail though and I did wonder whether the landscape would become too arid once that demand dried up. I can see a management buy-out for the Glasgow dealer in my business crystal ball. Then again, predicting the future is a tricky game. Can't help wondering how many others are on the edge of collapse. It's not as if margins are great in the industry.
Dreadful news, I have bought several bikes there including both my current bikes and have always forund the staff very fiendly and accomodating. The service staff and mechanics have been brilliant with me. It really is dreadful news for each and every one of them. I hope someone takes it on and keeps them in employment.
Sign of the times and bike always get the rough end. I purchased a Bonnie from them a few years ago two days later they delivered it. And as a dealer they went well out of their way to make sure I was satisfied. Joe.
hope they get sorted and find a buyer. bought my 1st bike from them this year and have had really good service from them. Known a coupla folk there at Ducati/Triumph for years through various shops and they are good people. People I trust. Fingers crossed.
Apparently, Hancock's "step grandfather" was actually his mother's third husband's first wife's husband... in other words, some bloke he met at a party once. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9014211/Truth-Matt-Hancocks-step-grandad-died-Covid.html
Bought over by Ducati Manchester looks like they where just clearing debts as the old owner is putting cash into it also moving to different location in 21-22
Moving further east may be sensible. It' an accessible location where they are now but there's not much as much west of them in terms of population.
Hope they stay in the west of Scotland as I got my T100 from them last year . Had a problem with bike but the guy Alan (service advisor) was a good help. They will have the staff to think of too.
