Hi all, wondering if anyone can tell me how much petrol is in the reserve or when the fuel light comes on with the scrambler. Have had a look in the book but no luck.
I've been told about 30 miles. Also, as in the States, "don't pass a petrol station when the petrol light comes on"!
Yeah I know what you mean its just nice to know how much I've got left to play with the petrol stations over here in Norfolk can sometimes be a bit few and far between. It's my only complaint with the bike no gauge.
The reserve light on mine would come on at roughly 220kms but I have sometimes taken her up to 275kms before a refill - was a 'puckering' experience though
Wife's Street Triple has about 30 miles in reserve but it's reasonably simple to work out. Fill up when the light comes on and subtract that from the manufacturer's published tank size.
I always run a new bike/car down to reserve then fill it up to the top. Take the fill up figure from the tank capacity and you have your reserve amount. Assuming you know your fuel consumption then you know how many miles to empty. Simples.
The only contre argument to that is that the Bonneville tank capacity is listed as being 16ltrs - but it's never in a million years a usable 16ltr tank. When I've done 275-280kms (175mls) on a tank, all I can get into the tank even when I fill it right up to the bottom of the filler tube is 13 ltrs. I think this is partially due to a part of the tanks capacity is used up with the in-tank fuel pump and it's ancilliaries and partly due to it never having been a 16ltr tank.
I always reset the trip meter when I fill up and when I get to around 110 miles I start thinking of a fuel stop
105 miles before the light came one... and another 15 before I came across a petrol station. I was starting to get twitchy, and was heading away from home, as it made no sense to turn round and cover barren ground.
The Triumph dealer told me 25 miles when you hit the reserve light, I haven't pushed my luck to check the distance.
Thanks for the replys to be fair the bike seems fairly economical however I expect that to change once I put a different exhaust on it.
My light usually comes on at 110-120 and I've done another 20miles or so. Usually try to fill up around 115 just to be on safe side!
I worked my T100 out using the manual's tank size - I have between 30-35 miles when the light comes on.
