    Trotters are great, but getting harder to pick up fresh... stuffed full of gelatine. Boil them down for a great rich stock for soup!!!

    Trotters should be fairly easy to get. All pigs come with them attached and my local butcher gets his piggies delivered on Thursdays.

    Yeah, you just have to give them a heads up... no chance of getting them in a supermarket

    Morrissons have trotters in the chiller dahn here even. Not regular fixture so I'd chat to the guy behind the counter if you had a yen for them. They used to do pig cheek as a regular fixture but not seen it for a bit. Beautiful cheap cut now belly pork has been stolen by the Nigellaistas.

    My missus demands 14 day self isolation when I have kidneys for breakfast.

    It works for me ;)

    Ha, Sandi T;
    Never heard them called pig’s feet before, but I suppose they are.
    Used to be dedicated Tripe shops that sold such things beside the tripe, Elder being one of those.
    Last Tripe Factory I remember was somewhere in Rossendale and it was busy enough, but not so that they could build a brand new processing plant when the EU regulations forced them out of business on so called Health and Hygene issues......practises that had fed people for over a hundred years!
    Bury Black puddings are famous...all over Bury!
    Never could eat pigs feet, the cloven hooves were too chewy for me.
    Cheers,Ken.

    Given up now as my wife was getting too tender hearted towards them but I have a pig run in the garden under the trees. They are lovely creatures and, suitably homed, make fantastic eating.

    Had Old Spots and Mangalitza/Large Black crosses. They got very boisterous when I got back from Glasgow Fruit & Veg market with all the discarded produce. My wife made them Water Melon freezes for hot weather when they also enjoyed a cold shower. Meanwhile her Filipina colleagues fought over first dibs on heads and trotters. Not so keen on the glutenous bits ourselves.

    The dog thought them voodoo pigs after catching his nose on their electrified ground wire. They can otherwise be under a fence in seconds and provide some chase!

    My dad used to love tripe and onions, home made by me mum. Fresh tripe was available from a stall (actually a caravan type of trailer with an open display/serving hatch on one side) on Pontefract market, way back when I were a lad! Fresh fish was sold from a similar trailer. Thankfully I never got them mixed up!:eek:
