When I was 16 I started work in a small local engineering shop and one of the guys had an orange one. He used to ride into Barrow from Millom and park it in the workshop. I used to sweep that bit of floor far more than any other bit! Just wiping up the drool.
I did my “local” engineering training in the workshops of an electrical components factory... a lad who worked there had an aluminium tanked cafe racer which I can’t remember the mix of bikes went into making, but I used to love parking my little rd50 next to it!
Yeah, I was employed by Oxleys, but you did the first year in Ashleys to get a sound basic training. Where was ACE?

Reminds me of Reminds me of going along with buddies who ice-raced a Norton Commando @Upper Straits Lake, MI back in the 70's. A wild time for us youngsters then !
