Got out the other evening. 70 degrees in November doesn't happen all the time, so have to enjoy it while you can.
^ Unlike the lucky above who are getting the last drop of riding weather, you know when your season is over when you crack the 865 top end open for valve clearance check (and fingers crossed no adjustment required I hope). Tuned in XS Manchester on my online web radio (thank God the shortwave days are over lol) and also decided to finally rid myself of the SAI system. Picked up some Nissan oil sump plugs 12Mx1.25, and a 11\16" plastic push cap\plug for the airbox at the local home store. All fit dead on, total cost $15 and looks factory. I cannot believe what vendors charge for their "kits" +shipping, absolutely crazy. Anyone know if the exhaust "pops and bangs" completely vanish post SAI-delete? I hope not as I like some of that, just less frequently I am guessing.
Took swingarm off the Thruxton to get it powdercoated black. And fitted new Tec clutch and brake levers. Seem really good quality parts.
Thanks mate, what I thought. Running SAI and aftermkt cans made the popping happen on anything closed throttle (bit obnoxious), so I am looking to lessen, but not lose it all together.
What a difference a windscreen makes! My Dart Marlin finally cleared customs and arrived today. I love the look, but especially love being able to take a spin at night in 4C and not freeze to the bone. (Or feel like I am being thrown off the bike under take-off!)
Took the Sprint apart, fitting a new mono shock and rear tyre is being replaced. Got about 8/9,000 km from it , got a puncture , piece of "Bone" if you can believe that !! I had maybe 500+ or so km left. Had to run tyre and rim into Perth JCS to get new tyre. Bike has been off the road a week. Lucky the America working fine, went to lake Ninan just 10~km from Wongan Hills. Had a picnic and rode home. 340 km round trip. Supported the swing arm thus , tie down strap over the frame hooked to axle. Photos of new shock and the dead old one to follow. cheers capt
The old mono shock The remote hydraulic adjuster has no fluid left in it. So can't adjust the spring preload anymore. The damping side is fine ! New tyre and new Hagon rear shocky in. Just time to rebuild the body work back on ... Close up of bottom link, shock and front pivot bolt. Had to remove exhaust system to get better access to this sucker. The link wouldn't drop out from between the two MTG plates for the suspension's front pivot anchor point , had to lightly persuade with a Manchester screw driver. All good once that dropped, Shockey fell out !!! cheers capt
Got the mirror glass replaced in my Triumph housing after putting up with a crack for 2 months. They left a slight gap, but much better
Installed an Evotech tail tidy on the Daytona M2 today. It's been sitting in the garage for a couple months while the weather was still nice, but it finally snowed pretty good a couple days ago, so I had some spare time to install the thing. Once the snow melts I'll take it for a spin and make sure it performs well.
We have been w/o any measurable precipitation here (near Las Vegas, NV, USA) for 220 days ! Well, it is the Mohave 'Desert' !!
