If you want the honest and slightly sad reason... I have taken up an interest in home brewing again, and I’m saving up the swing tops for my experiments with home brewed ginger beer... I’ve never made a carbonated brew that I’ve bottled before and I know these aren’t just “show bottles” designed to pretty up a house... they can take a bit of pressure! And the bonus is, when I buy these bottles, they come with free beer inside!!!
When I was a kid my parents used to make “Elderflower champagne” and they’d bottle it in lemonade bottles (glass) in which it would brew a little longer to self-carbonate. We would get the occasional bottle bomb explode, just because you looked at it funny... leaving a fizzy, sticky, glass ridden mess to clean up
