I bought this with the blinkers already attached and the bolts need tightening however I've hit a snag in unplugging a the connector that goes into the headlamp parking light or whatever that little mini me bulb is.

I need to unplug it to get more room because as you can see from the photo that is as far as I can get it without unplugging, so I can get to the bolts to tighten them up.

I've put a screwdriver where the red line is to try and pry it apart there, but now I'm wondering if I'm supposed to press those two little orange dots somehow, or is that black bit on the back also need depressing. Or is this meant to just pry apart without pressing anything :¬(

    thx in advance.

Pretty sure you should press in the catch in the raised part of the connector on the top - I wouldn't prise it apart with force

That's it - you push in the orange catch just to the left of your line with a small implement - small screwdriver or a biro or whatever - and it'll simply slide apart

    madness!!

Welp I tried the raised black part and the two orange bits, nada. Couldn't get it to budge. I tried to unscrew the little hook that holds the unit in place but I couldn't get a driver into the space. In the end I was able to prise the hook open enough to slide the unit out, and I just barely had end room to get a spanner to the inner bolt to tighten the pivot point without needing to undo any more plastic. Pretty annoying way to have to adjust the headlight level.

Glad you've got it sorted at last.

I'm guessing your aware that the only reason that it's such a hassle is because of the way the aftermarket indicators fit? With the stock indicators (and the vast majority of aftermarket ones) adjusting the headlamp is a 30 second activity as the mounting screws are where your indicators now are.

Yeah there is that, they were on when I purchased it, truth be told I'm not really fond of those aftermarket blinker, I don't know if an unmodified assembly has such a short wire to the parking lamp. I think I might just cut it off and put spade connectors on, hopefully though I won't need to open her up again.

That wire shouldn't be any different on yours to the stock bike. It's possible that the wires were packed differently behind the plastic plate at the top of the light.

I've not taken my light apart to check but I thought the side light wiring didn't go behind that plate anyway.

The wiring isn't particularly long though!

I'll have a look at mine soon just to check the connector is identical, and if so, once you have the technique right then it's easy.
