I went in to Triumph of Seattle to get a t shirt, but then that silver tongued Andy Nadeau started talking about the Speed Triple RS and then there was a test ride... it’s all a blur after that.
And that Sir is precisely why Mrs Billy has banned me from entering any bike dealers! Enjoy your new ride mate!
That's how I ended up wi mi Speed Triple. Went to CMC outlet in December, to buy a pair o summer gloves..............
Went for tires, ended up with a 19 street triple rs. salesman wasn't required. They offered a free Boeing 737Max fuselage with new bike purchases, but passed on it. I live in Wichita.
Nothing like a new bike to make you feel like a little kid again. Beautiful bike, Jet--congratulations! Yep, those test rides are "dangerous". I have a Speed Triple, too....you're gonna LOVE it!
Thanks, everyone! The Speed Trip turns out to be amazingly, ridiculously competent. It's stunning. A few years ago I decided that I would probably not do another track day... but now I feel like in order to get a sense of what this bike is capable of I need to go to the track. It is SO solid and fast, it just makes you feel confident. And there are a lot of things to touch and tune and adjust. The Ohlins setup is not as hard as I thought it would be, but I'll be dialing in more softness for street riding. Every one of the five electronic bike setup maps allows the rider to customize it if you want. One thing that I need to do for Seattle riding is to put on Pilot Roads or some such. The bike comes with Supercorsas which are mostly smooth rubber everywhere with a tiny homage to tread. But it rains here By the way, imagine the test ride. Andy sends me out on this not-my-bike, with 1 mile on it, new Supercorsas, and cold damp streets. I rode it as gingerly as my mother would if she still had a drivers license, and could still walk, and liked to try out new motorcycles.
