You make a valid point. TFT screens and all the gizmos look great in the showroom but how much do they add on a ride out? Maybe an Old Git perspective but I suspect many folk’s patterns of use will barely touch the available functionality. And when they crack..... or otherwise fail.....

I'm one of those who don't want the extra gimmicks...but I want a bike that isn't deliberately slower than it needs to be just so it won't steal sales from the expensive one

Shouldn't it be compared to the 900 GT rather than the GT Pro?

And be called the Tiger Economy rather than Sport...

I’ve been waiting the updated Sport for 18 months, and boy what a disappointment

I was hoping for a powerful touring machine, not a stripped down Tiger 900, they already offer a basic 900, WTF

Clue in the name “Sport” so in this segment the Ninja 1000sx tourer is the only game in town its a joke

I'm gutted to be honest. The only good thing is, they've found a can of blue paint! I thought they might have boosted the power, not reduced it. Surely the new Trident was for the A2 licence riders. A golden opportunity thrown away. That's two names badly used, Trident and Sport. It's not for me.

I know what you’re saying mate but what’s the average age of today’s Triumph riders
We’re hardly the future are we?:sob::sob:

Blue highlights? Maybe going for the more mature client?

Can't stand the trend for the primer colour paint finish these days, hopefully it's only a temporary fad.....

Mind you matt black paint was originally an indication of a home sprayed rattle can 'customisation' job and look how that's caught on.

Or compared to the now discontinued 900 base model, which it probably is, as it has the 5" TFT screen, (the GT and GT Pro have 7"), which that model had.

The Tiger Sport was always a different bike to the Tiger
Send me the decals and I'll stick em on!

Not a long way into the future, maybe, but I intend to buy a few more new bikes before I croak. I may have to explore other manufacturer's offerings...............

It is a direct replacement for the entry level 900 and that is it really. A different engine tune, paint job and bit more LED to it. If you were considering the entry level 900 it seems a good compromise to go for this instead. I'd say they will sell more of these than the entry level 900.

Where does the sport come into it? I wonder if they ran out of 17" wheels as well as paint?:)

To be fair to Triumph, it's a reasonably clever move to shift a bike that wasn't selling by re-badging it and slightly tweaking the engine map. If it sells all well and good but it definitely isn't a Tiger Sport replacement.
