Hi, Just noticed a lot of play on the right hand side of the swing arm on my 2001 Bonneville. So it looks like the needle roller has gone. I`ve ordered a new set of bearings for it and I`m just wondering if I need any special tools to do the job.

Changed RS 2000 swing arm bearings with a extension bar for a drift and a length of threaded bar, two plates, and two nuts as a press.
I dont know if they are similar I did how ever need a special tool to remove from frame.

Job done. No special tools required although a length of studding, 2 nuts and some big washers works well as a drift.
The old needle roller was completely knackered. The 2 ball bearings were ok but changed them at the same time. It`s a shame Triumph didn't provide us with some grease nipples. Changed the chain and sprockets at the same time and it`s like riding a new bike! No longer fighting the bars round the corners.
