Yeah, I managed to do ok under 8 years of our previous U.S. president. Good thing I was able to save some money back then and that my investments grew. As I stated in a different thread, I went nowhere financially under Trump these past four years.
Just in case you do I am sedating with multiple large slugs of a double oaked 12 yr old Glenlivet. Having intact taste buds helps one appreciate these things.....but just you keep drinking the napalm.
It is easy to ignore the scale of national debt (we are with Covid ‘crisis’) but the umpty ump trillions owed by the US with Obama hosing borrowings around plus the business cycle needed addressing. There are always winners and losers in economic readjustment but Trump needed to trim the ship of State before it capsized. You cannot return factories overnight but objectively did a pretty fair job. It is also east to forget the influence China has been buying with its wealth from Hollywood onwards. They do not behave like friends but competitors - much like the eyewash about EU ‘partners’. It is easy enough to see the Chinese financial ties throughout US media interests. Don’t think they don’t believe this stuff: “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
I don't know how much Trump's choices and behaviors or Obama's before him have been related to my financial ups and downs, DD. And I'm certain Trump wouldn't be the sole cause. He's not that powerful. I was responding to ODA's post by stating facts about my own finances in the past four years vs. the previous eight years. I'm sure there have been many variables at work related to that. But for me the fact remains that my personal finances have certainly not improved any in the past four years. Now, back to drinking. But not right at this moment since I'm posting this at 7:25am Arizona time. Although I do have some Bailey's in the cupboard and I am drinking coffee and the news is still crazy related to the election and COVID. Hmmmm.....
Now I'm even more interested in meeting Mrs. DD! Not because of the boobies, but because like her, I also suffer from that shoe purchasing fetish.
It does seem like it would be a good time in history to be a company that produces, sells, or distributes alcohol. Perhaps the Oranjeboom resurgence fits into that somehow.
Just started on the beer because it’s smoky/drinky Friday gonna go on YouTube and find some music to listen to Jack Daniels to follow
No I don't remember, but it is quite horrible. The advert, not the beer. I can get it at TJ's and like the blue can more than the beer. At any rate, here's to the Triumph community!! Live each day like you mean it.
In my teens, me and a few mates from East Lancs/West Yorks border area would visit Cadwell Park to watch the racing. On the way back we would usually stop off on the way back for a few pints of Barnsley Bitter and a pork pie. It was a lovely pint and we really looked forward to it.
Hmm.. Pork pies. I had an attraction to those unhealthy lumps of forbidden pleasure. Perhaps due to my Polish upbringing and exposure to such delights as Smalec and the everyman's snack skwarki. Pork pies, along with visits to the chippy were carefully regulated. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water, arteries tighten, and the heart cry out in anguish. I wonder if I can find some on amazon?
There's a bakery near me that has been doing superb pork pies for many years, unfortunately the owner Lawrence Smith aged 70 retired last Saturday and his bakery is no more. He refuses to divulge his recipe. In fact he has only ever given the recipe to one person ever, a guy who emigrated to Australia on condition that he would never divulge it. So I now have to go further afield for my pork pies. There are lots of good ones about fortunately. I eat them with HP sauce and pickled onions. In fact I pickled a batch of onions just a few days ago. Those and my home made piccalili will be ready for christmas. Edit: In the run up to his retirement day I ate five of his pork pies.
