is it just me, or are some people crazy... Long story cut short...

I advertised my car on evilbay a couple of weeks ago. Same day some guy pressed the buy now button. He came to see it (not buy it apparently) Gave it a good look over for at least an hour. Took him for a good test drive, got back home and he was grumbling about some things. He left saying he was going to talk to some 'mates' and get back to me. Had a few pain in the arse messages off him and it got to the point where i said to just leave it and dont buy it. A few days later i got a message off him saying he had commited to buy it so wanted it. Went out of my way and picked him up from a train station (about 10 miles away) brought him back home so we could do the deal. He gave it a good look over again, i pointed out any faults (again) and asked numerous times if he was happy with it. He said yes, paid up, signed the log book and a receipt and took it away. The log book has now been sent off. Now, 5 days later he says there is a fault with the central locking (which there wasn't) and wants to bring the car back...!!! It's a 22 year old car which cost him £1600, not a show room model costing thousands. I can see quite a few angry messages coming from him but as far as i am aware there is no way he is entitled to anything. Also in those 5 days he could of been anywhere or done anything in the car.

Sometimes people are just a crazy pain in the arse... (moan over)

What a muppet - he bought it as a "buy it now" option and the purchase was based entirely on that. The fact he came to see the car, and you pointed out the known faults (the central locking was not one of them) means it's all down to him. It's ebay for f**ks sake what did he expect?

He can send as many messages as he likes but in the end - tough.

some people are strange. He is having nothing back and not bringing the car back. I went out of the way for him and he was more than happy with it when he left. At the end of the message he tell's me it's a shame he has to bring it back as it's 'a sweet ride and always starts first turn of the key'.... o_O As Mr T would say, 'mans a crazy fool'

Be careful, eBays rules are strange, BIN is covered by their buyers guarantee money back, not sure how it works on vehicles but you could find your-self in a dispute if he raises one and suddenly find your account debited to the tune of £1600!
The dispute staff are not in any way or form lawyers, only able to press a keyboard on pre-set questionaires, so it nearly always go'es in favour of the buyer.
Its only classified that are not covered, some buyers are pro's at getting the refunds and goods as well!
1 reason I never sell anything of value on bids or BIN.

Similar tale to my own when I too had an ST2. A bloke made me an offer, quite reasonable. Told him about the dry clutch and the racket it made.
Nice clean bike, always started first pull, FSH etc.
T**T - "bloody hell whats that noise"!
Me - "its a dry clutch, it makes a noise"
T**T - "not 'aving that, you didn't tell me the clutch was fooked"
Me - "Stop wasting my time, fook off"

I had an issue with a Discovery I sold to someone last year. He came, saw and tested the vehicle.Signed a receipt saying sold as seen, no guarantee. 5 days later he contacted me and told me the vehicle over-heated and blew it's head gasket and was going to cost 1600€ to repair.

After months of back and forth I settled the matter by paying him for the parts only - 320€. Just wanted him gone tbh.

Naw, this t**t worked on the same shift as me at a top secret establishment up here in Cumbria. He saw me riding said beastie at work and fancied himself as an expert but new the square root of bog all about anything other than a CB90 and his grey matter fell out every time he opened his pie hole.

Definition of expert: A has been drip under pressure (work it out for your self)

Ebay and PayPal can be a right pain as a seller if you get someone who doesn't want to pay full price once they have bid and won.
A few years ago I sold a large second hand ride on mower via auction. Took loads of photos described the faults like the cutting deck was rusty. Put on the ad cash on collection prefered but this guy paid the winning bid in full on PayPal!
I agreed to deliver 70 miles, guy checked it over, rode it, cut his grass and said he was happy.

4 days later PayPal said the buyer had put the deal into 'dispute' and the cash paid into my paypal account was unavailable. The guy said the cutting deck was too rusty and a new one was needed. I either had to drive back to collect and refund or agree to the £200.00 rebate. In the end I gave £200.00 to settle but felt like I had been done over by the buyer eBay and PayPal

I don't now sell any high value items on ebay.

I try to use cash only but can never remove the PayPal option as it says I PREFER PAYPAL,like bollocks I do!!
Ebay take 10% on normal listings and swipe that off postage as well after they've muselled you in to how much postage should be to the customer. I always try to end early so no commission is paid and it's outside of all liability. I've sold maybe in the region of 50-100 vehicles on eBay and maybe 10 got through to the end of the auction so I've managed to play it my way.

ending it early is a good way and not selling through ebay. The fee's are taking the piss these days. I only realised a few months ago that the were charging a percentage of postage. By the time the fee's come off, packaging materials etc you are losing a good bit of the selling price.
