Looking for some help I have a data tool s4 fitted to my 1999 tiger I went a bought the proper banking plug then went to fit it but the previous owner has cut the plug off !! There are only 4wires going to data tool two red one white and one green all the other wires are covered I think I will just have to join the four wires but don't know what way ? If it's one red to white and the other red to green or red to red can anyone tell me please !
Can you show image please of what you have This is an 885 right? Vin before 89736? On Alarm connector of that vintage there is typically only ONE loop required - the starter interlock normally takes place down at the solenoid itself (it may or not have been wired up in your config, but there is definitely no provision for it on what was the alarm connector) The 4 wires I would presume are Constant Power Ground and two for Ignition Immobilizer interlock So take your volt meter Put black (negative) probe on battery negative terminal Leave Ignition off Test each wire with red probe - the one that gives 12V is the constant power - you do not need this one and it can be insulated off Swap the red probe to the battery positive Take the black probe and test the other three wires: the one that gives 12V is the ground wire - you do not need this and can cap it off The other two will be the ignition circuit wires (if you like you can return the black probe to batt neg and test with the red probe - turn on ign - one should be 12V only with ign on) But if you correctly id'd those first two, then should be as simple as just connecting those latter two together
The thing is a piece of shit. My trip is on a trickle charger as we speak as the all life has been sucked out by the bloody alarm. And I had a bloody dry road window! It's going to piss down tomorrow, I just bloody know it.
Hi there sorry for the delay in replying I did what you said and identified the two wires joined the other two together now when I turn on ignition and push starter button I get nothing I have taken photos maybe you can help please
The two red wires had constant power do they need to be joined I only joined the other two and there seems to be four black wires two seem to go to starter solonid and other two go under the tank some where should these be earthed ?
You should not have joined those 2 - you probably blew a fuse as result of that Remove the connection from those two wires and insulate them individually then inspect your fuses and replace the blown one
