Evening all. Wondering what the current thoughts are on replacement tyres for the Speed Twin? I'm still running the original Pirelli Corsa Rosso III but find them uninspiring when its damp/wet. Thoughts? Oh, and anyone tried lowering stock pressures? Ta.
Like you, I've not changed my original tyres yet. My previous bike was a Thruxton R and I put Roadtec 01's on which were absolutely brilliant in all conditions. So I'll probably do the same again when the time comes, although the Roadtec 02's are out now.
I’m looking to get the Bridgestone s22s when mine have worn out. I’ve got them on my GSXR1000 and They’re great in both wet and dry. If they can handle 200 Bhp I’m sure they will cope with the ST !!
Tried the s21, just a tad wider profile in exact same stock dimension as Diablo rosso made them rub on the chain, could be the same with s22s, just a heads up
I'm not impressed with the robustness of any of the Rosso range. I have Rosso II's on my XR and Rosso III's on my Speedie. I recently picked up a sheetmetal screw in the rear Speedie tire with only 400 miles on the clock. I have picked up two nails in the two rear tires I've had on the XR, both in the first 1/3 of the tire's life. These incidents have led me to believe that the Rosso's are basically track tire carcasses with road compounds to keep the weight down. I've had multiple pairs or PR3's, 4's and now R5's on other bikes with no problems. I figured I'm going to R5's on the speedie when it's time.
I generally stay away from the rain, but have been caught up in it. Michelin tires in general have never failed me in the wet.
