Well the weather is crap so what to do instead of riding the bike ?? Brewing your own beer that's what !!! 25 litres of 6.5% IPA underway, happy days
I was going to offer to brew a load of beer for GMU 20 but it all went a bit pear shaped with Covid. But I can do it in the future
Hi. I will work out some costs but while it is fairly idiot proof brewing is a process you cannot rush so you are looking at a seven hour brew day. You have to enjoy the brewing process than just want cheap booze
I've considered brewing my own from time to time. Then I watch a youtube video on the brewing process. Decide it's too much effort and may cut into drinking time. After the video I get on the phone and have case delivered.
I haven't done homebrew for a while, the basic kit doesn't involve much outlay. Like anything you can always find 'extras' to buy if you get serious. Also it's one of those hobbies where someone will give it a go then get bored so... eBay I'd def recommend getting a pressure barrel rather than the ballache of sterilising bottles. And take your sterilising and cleanliness very seriously, it's all in the prep.
Feckin' spoilsport!!! You know damn well that we (well, most of us) don't function properly without alcohol, pies and CAKE!!!
Cool rig mate, I’ve not gone down the beer route myself yet... I might try one of those half prepped kits though... I’ve got a load of wine on the make and some blackberry mead...
We’ve got our Sloe Gin under way.... just got to shake the jars every 2 days to Xmas. Going to be thirsty by then ...!
I’ve a couple of litres of that on the way too... @half ton - those are 5litre carboys... they had just been rough racked out to get them off the fruit, they’re very active! And yes, I do expect them to clear... the three red ones are Elderberry, the brown evil looking one is raisin and the other is the mead.
I have been looking into mead recently and hope to try making some soon once I have been in the loft and dusted off a couple of demijohns.
Get it done mate, it’s pretty easy... I’ve been looking at these kits, unless you recommend elsewhere? https://www.lovebrewing.co.uk/titanic-dark-oaked-bourbon-porter-le-beerworks-craft-brewery-series/
Those don't look too bad. At least you get the hops and the malt extract separate which is always better. When I last brewed from kits in the early 1990s they were pretty awful and I quickly moved to brewing from scratch (all grain).
Blackberry Mead ??? I bet that's the replacement for the pre colonoscopy clearing out fluid isn't it ?
