About three months ago I bought my first Triumph; a 2008 Tiger 1050 with about 14,000 miles 22,500km).

It was a great bargain because it was leaking oil pretty badly, and a local non-Triumph shop told the previous owner that is would be over $1,000 to fix it. I rode it home, set my 1/4" torque wrench to 11Nm, and started turning bolts. Several minutes later, no leaks!

I have added extremely bright driving lights, a phone mount, bar risers, a tank bag, and a 12-volt/ 5-volt power outlet. This is the first "sit-up" road bike that I've owned since my 1972 Suzuki 750 "water buffalo." I really like this Triumph. It's fantastic around town, decent on the expressway, and interesting on hard-pack two-tracks.

Currently, the one problem with the bike is hot starting. Something is causing so much voltage drop, that the starter is stalling on the compression strokes, and the ECU is "resetting," causing starter disengagement, and a new "key on" cycle. If I let it sit for 10 minutes or so, it will start. I am guessing that the ampacity of some portion of the main power circuit is marginal. When I get some time, I will investigate and modify.

After years of BMWs, I never thought I would buy a Triumph, but I adore this great machine!

Looking forward to some great discussions on this forum!
