Hi, David I lived in the Colliery streets for 26 years you never locked your doors, now there people from all over the place, mostly scum that have been moved from their own towns,
After the pits closed I worked for a Social housing contractor for twenty years, we worked anywhere from Carlisle across to Whitby and up to Berwick upon Tweed, and I think the worst places we had to go were nearer home, and that was Hartlepool and Horden, these are the photos I had to take for Health and Safety from a kitchen in a property in Horden,.
Yes, this thread and indeed, this forum on the whole is a great place to lift the spirits. Sorry to hear of your bad times; there’s been some for many of us recently but stay positive fella and good times will come to you again soon. Keep yer chin up.
I'm sorry for your loss, Adrian. Glad that the stories and photos here cheer you up...they do me, too. Hang in there.
I managed to move away from the streets before the were taken over by druggies, most of the old colliery house have been sold to private landlords who do not live here and do not care who they rent the houses to I feel sorry for the good people who still have to live among them.
You cant buy time Judd. Its an enviable position to be in with all that time ahead. Make the most of it!
