Hi, I have a 2018 speedmaster. A weird clacking noise started coming from the front brake every time I applied the brake. Even just pushing the bike forward it will make the noise. also going over a bumpy road the clacking is there. I have replaced the brake pads today and at first the noise went. However it has returned, really annoying when at low speeds on a bumpy road...clack...clack.....even when not applying the brakes ...Anyone experienced this.could it have something to do with the ABS as it seems to come from the left side brakes

Never had any problems with the brakes on my speedmaster, nor heard any other owners on here complaining of similar problems. Be interesting to find out what is causing it .....

Hello and welcome to the forum Calvin, if you've fitted the pads yourself it might be a good idea to remove and refit them just to make sure you haven't missed something, we've all been there and done that mate.

Is it definitely the brake? I've had various noises and weird feelings on my Speedmaster.

I had noises from a flapping brake cable that had come out the wire guides that hold them in the area where the front mudguard meets the forks.

I've had clunkiness under braking and general 'rattlyness' of front which was caused by the steering head centre nut being loose.

Generally, I would suggest checking all bolts are tight, including mudguard mounting screws.

I had the same thing on my speed triple rs, took the pads out and put some Cera tech on them, worked great and no more funny noises.

If you put it on the centre stand and elevate the front wheel, you can spin it and home in on the source. A billet of timber under a fork leg in default of a jack......

Thanks for the repkies ..The noise was there before I changed the pads. The Cera Tech sounds good.. Will give that a go...will also check the head bearings and cables

Just checked all the nuts and bolts on front end and all okay, cables are secure and not flapping about. Managed to get 1/4 turn on the huge head stock bolt.

sounded like my older bikes where the pads slightly moved around in the caliper as well as the floating disc moved a bit all at the same time. I noticed mine when I was moving my GS as well as Guzzi around the garage.

as long as your lines/cables/bolts are all secure, i wouldn't worry about too much.

The springs are supposed to centrally locate the pads and eliminate rattles.....

The springs did look a bit dirty, might give them a clean and see

FYI, the correct torque for the nut in the centre of the upper yoke (the one that sits between the handle bar risers) is 90Nm. Mine got to the stage of being loose enough to undo with my fingers before I realised what the problem was. Not sure why it came loose, as it shouldn't have been touched for any reason since leaving the factory.
