If Triumph shows a tiny effort in giving an F about dealers and garages in Sweden I might actually consider a new Triumph Speed Triple.
Yes I heard 170-180 bhp again when I was in on Saturday. In the current climate it does make me wonder whether they'll delay and wait for the economy to pick up.
No doubt the Aprilia will be a great looking, great handling bike, but for me the mid-range of the Speed is the selling point. The Street RS looks like it's going to be up power to weight wise and I have no regrets trading the Street for the Speed. In fact in my case i should have gone straight to the Speed. The Aprilia does look like it's going to come in under £10k though.
Maybe have no choice given the factory closures and parts supplier closures etc. I would expect delays in these circumstances Im afraid
Apparently they've been blowing development engines due to the tune and amount of power they're trying to squeeze out.
To be honest I think 160 is a better figure for a super naked and will help maintain engine reliability being in a lower state of tune. As well as the s3 I have a 1299 with a full system so near as dam it 190-200 bhp at the back tyre and its a proper handful on the road. Your forever holding it back. The s3 is the opposite your forever wanting more so some where between the two would be perfect. My old Blade was 160ish bhp and that was a lovely road bike which I happily toured and thrashed everywhere
I agree. That's why I moved to Triumph after almost 20 years on Blades. 160 bhp would be about the sweet spot for me on the road.
I think it'd be nice to see the speed roll off the show room floor with a claimed 165 putting it's bhp right around 155; at 148 it feel strong, but definitely leaves a bit to be desired at the top end. I realize it's a triple and it'll always suffer compared to the other bikes by being down on a cylinder but no reason they can't bump displacement up a tad (not like it need to adhere to any class/racing rules). Don't know if any of ya'll have ridden an MT10 but if triumph could pin down that power with the feel of the speed triple (which is immensely better overall)... That would be the ticket.
Yeah I rode an S1000R recently and honestly feels like it's just too much for the road since you don't even hit the high revs at legal speeds but maybe if the Triple can accomplish that the 150 range would be good there. I'm very much watching what Triumph does with Speed triple because I love the Street but want just a bit more.(and SSS is a bonus )
Yeah but it's the mid range torque that makes the speed triple .... If it's torquey low down that will be better than S1000 mt10 etc..
Well after the introduction of riding modes 2016 and onwards id say go for 180hp on track or driver mode and lower on the others. And for god sake, let us kill off all the assistance stuff and have it as a default starting option. Create an option along the lines of "hold the mode button and start the bike to get your own driving mode enabled from the start" or something. Still miss my old bike without all these electronics to be honest.
I thought Euro 5 was only related to emissions? But while typing the sentence above I realise that track-mode probably consumes more fuel and lets out more shite from the exhaust..
Not sure, but I was sure the new rules meant we were no longer allowed to fully turn them off.... which is stupid
The current Triumph incentives to buy a speed triple (£1,000 off, free quickshifter & £500 clothing voucher) finish at the end of Sept. Wonder if this means the official release of the new Speed Triple will be \oct ?
As someone who likes the styling of the new Streetfighter and Super Duke with the small, low headlights (I like when the downward angle of the tank sort of lines up with the top of the headlights since it usually makes the bike look more aggressive, almost like a big prowling beast that's just about to attack it's prey) I must say that i quite like the styling over all. Not a fan of the exhaust though. However, I'm pretty sure this picture is fake. I don't know if the design is fake, but I'm pretty sure the picture is not real. The fact that it has no background is a bit suspect and i feel like the quality of spy shots is usually lower. There's also the fact that these pictures showed up on the S1000R forums around the same time: That rider looks awfully familiar wouldn't you say? Unless Triumph and BMW have started testing their bikes together I find it hard to believe that these photos are real.
