    Hi All,

New kid in town here to the forum and Triumph bikes. I’ve looked around the threads and (seemingly) searched far and wide, but can’t seem to find a definitive answer...

Is the catalytic converter on the 2020 Street Triple R inside the “muffler box” assembly now? Based on another thread, it does appear that there is still one on the mid pipe just before the muffler box, as known previously, but I’ve heard mixed answers.

I’d love to hear if anyone’s experience putting a simple slip-on, on their 2020s and could confirm anything here!

Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Ryan, I also have a 2020 Street Triple R and recently replaced the exhaust with a SP Engineering SC-1 Stubby in carbon fiber. I reset the adaptives immediately after installation and have no issues whatsoever with the new slip-on exhaust. Here is a photo of the new exhaust:

    Hope this helps.

thank you for this! Please forgive me for this, but could you clarify what you meant by resetting the adaptives? I’ve never had to do something like that. I assume it’s something to do with resetting the ECU on the bike to help it adjust itself. Could you clarify and maybe share how one would do this?

Also - have you done a tune on it or has it kept enough back pressure to where it has been able to compensate for the increased air flow?

bike looks great by the way!

Thank you for the compliment. I think it might need a belly pan now as the removal of the stock exhaust has really made it look very naked. Something I am considering.

Reset the adaptives is extremely easy. Basically, you power the bike on, but don't touch the throttle. You then let the bike idle until the fan kicks on and then let it idle for 12 minutes more. After than, your done. I let my idle for about 25 minutes total then I went for a ride.

I do not have a tune on it. I don't think one is available yet and I have not found the need for one either. As I said before, I have had no issues with it anywhere in the rev range. At idle, it makes a very nice deep burble that changes to a scream above 8K. I don't have the baffle installed and it is definitely louder than stock. But I always wear ear protection and the extra noise from the exhaust doesn't bother me.

Interesting! So the main cat must be right before the muffler box then. I’ve been toying with the idea of throwing one on. Just didn’t want to mess up fueling too much as things feel great now stock. I’m just wanting a bit more presence from the exhaust.

Do you have any videos of yours firing up and running?

Sure. I used the Luimoto tank leaf. Here is the link:

I like them - the amount of grip they offer is excellent and they offer a much different look from the Techspec products.

    awesome! Just ordered one.
I was looking at other alternatives, but others seem to have had a great experience with the guys over at SP. ordered last night and it’s already shipped and expected Wednesday! I’ll definitely share my experience once it’s on!
