    Good choice Dave. As I mentioned I had an ST4s, must be around 15 years ago now (slightly detuned 996 motor installed). I never rode an ST3, but the word on the street at the time was it was a great all rounder. My biggest criticism of the ST4s was that it didn't like going slow! It juddered and was a bit ponderous at speeds below 45 mph, so around town it wasn't the best. But I think the slightly less powerful ST3 motor was a much better option as a tourer.

    Keep us all in the loop as to how you get along with it in the coming months. :)

    Hi Nikki, I had an ST2 years ago and did about 20,000 mls on her in about 18 months - 100% reliable !!!

    Had an st4 Dave, it was too mental as a tourer!! Hope yours is ‘useable’

    Hi mate, well all I can say is that the ST2 I had for about 25,000 mls was brilliant. Comfy to get there (the Alps/Pyrenees etc etc), excellent fun while you were there, comfy for the return trip.

    Whilst I had my ST2, I tried an ST4 and didn't like it at all.

    Might not be getting the bike tomoz, the bank transfer has decided to impersonate a snail.

    And so we wait..........................................

    Well I actually thought you’d get another tracer since it fitted you in most aspects?
    The problem I see with all us bikers is that there’s so many interesting sexy bikes out there these days, you’ll choose that one, that one and that one over there.... then you hop onto the one you never mentioned but like the look of!!

    Just got home with my new baby. About 100 kms of swoopy, twisty roads to get home.

    What a thoroughbred she feels. I have never had a bike that goes into and through corners like this bike - it is creamy the way she tips not falls in; through the corners with an extraordinary degree of precision so you can place exactly where you want - without counter steering - just think where you want the bike to go and there she goes.

    And that motor !!! 3 valves per cylinder gives great gobs of torque at any speed above 3000 rpm. 1 minute cruising along at a reasonable 85kph next second I look down and we're doing 160 kph without breaking a drop of sweat.

    And the riding position is great too. VERY happy bunny.

    Of course next week when she throws her toys out the pram, I might feel slightly different :p:p
