Last Tuesday the automatic camchain tensioner failed on my Tiger 1050 and demolished the engine totally, I have since learned that if you replace the automatic tensioner with the manual one then there will be no more problems and no more engine failures. cost of replacement is £50.00 for the tensioner and the cost of fitting it usually 2 hours work,a lot cheaper than a replacement engine plus fitting in my case £900.00.

Bummer! Sorry that’s all I could rustle up, but thanks for the heads up.

That must hurt. I had one similarly let go at high speed on my previous Tiger 955i...it wrote the bike off too.
I've heard that it's wise to replace the tensioner every 40k miles....though I can't find this anywhere in the factory workshop manual.
When I bought my current 955i I replaced cam chain and the tensioners. Also whilst there checked the valve shims... hopefully all good for a long time to come.
I'm sorry you've had this mess to sort out.
