I’m looking at upgrading the front suspension on my 865cc T100. Broadly speaking I’m looking to copy various things I’ve found to work on my 1992 Sportster, which has a lot in common with the T100. The first thing is the forks. I fitted Hagon progressive springs and Rico Emulators, which between them have really tamed the front-end handling on the brute. I see that TEC list emulators, a lot cheaper than Rico ones. They also list progressive springs, about the same price as Hagon, and adjustable pre-load fork caps. Does anyone have experience of these, in any combination? What is worth having, what doesn’t really justify itself?
I've git the TEC progressive springs on my 2012 SE. It's an improvement over the stock set up, especially with the Hagon shocks I have at the back. Wouldn't bother going any further on a Bonneville though, doesn't really warrant it in my opinion. (To be fair, the cast wheel Bonnie's handle better than spoked ones anyway).
I was thinking that progressive springs and Hagons at the back, were probably the optimum combination for cost effective improvement. The emulators definitely improve the Sportster, but that’s basically a 1970s design anyway. I’ve never cared for the OEM tyres, either, fairly poor in the wet, so I’m open to suggestions on that; the Sportster has Avon Cobras and they suit it very well
I put the TEC progressive springs and adjustable fork tops on my Tracer 700 and I found a noticeable difference/improvement in ride quality and braking. I particularly liked having spring pre-load since I am of the ahem larger build.
I'm having a hardthard ordering those front tec springs. When I add them to the cart nothing shows up. Are there other resellers?
I have added the Cogent Dynamics DDC kit of emulator, springs for your weight and riding style and new oil. Tremendous improvement.
