Or are Triumph getting on anyone else's wick with their ltd edition model releases which are just paint jobs? I think I'm getting a bit jaded and possibly turning into a bit of a miserable git. Moto2 Daytona is the only ltd edition bike which does it for me - more than paint alone. Just saw the 007 Scambler in MCN priced at £18,500 ffs.
I think yer right but as stuff is now going to be made in india, hopefully that'll mean more bikes as they'll be cheaper to make? (as if price will go down.......)
I was burned on resale of my 2014 Trophy SE, but just got a great deal on a low mileage Thunderbird LT. While I benefited from the terrible resale value of this orphaned model it does bother me that Triumph seems to kick the high end model buying customers to the curb. Perhaps Triumph secretly hates everyone that bought an expensive bike new from them.
The new Triumph has always touted itself as a fashion statement and appealed to contrarian buyers. Keep the price higher and people think they are getting something they are not. Look at the adverts and its about exclusivity and implying discernment. It's a business plan, but without the MADE IN ENGLAND mystique, it may wear thin. I like the bikes and buy into the contrary status, as I never was a joiner. Just my opinion.
When looking for an adventure type bike I couldn’t justify the several extra thousand Euros or so to get the Tiger, so plumped for the VStrom. I have no regrets, the VStrom took me reliably up to the Nordkapp and endeared itself to me with its fine handling and smooth engine. Would I make the same decision again? Absolutely. I doubt very much I’d buy another Triumph, they are over priced with a lot of average/poor components.
Have to agree @BonnieCat , the vStrom is a cracking bike. I had the 1000cc variant when it was first launched and toured Norway, Sweden and Denmark on that bike. Having said that I now have the tiger sport and imo it is a better bike. Yes more expensive, but when it comes to anything in this life what you spend your money on is a life choice, irrespective of cost.
Had the regular Tiger been miles better, I would’ve bought one, but it wasn’t, it really wasn’t and I test rode both. Also the VStrom 1000 which was a nice bike but on the heavy side and I wanted something much lighter after my Trophy.
Yes, good job you didn't drop the 1000 on your foot Nikki - me and Dave might have struggled to pick that one up!

Gotta say I'm very happy with my 700 Tracer at £6,100 with 20 miles on the clock last summer. It's a lovely ride and although I do like Triumphs I just think Yamaha have the edge when it comes to putting a bike together that "feels right".
Yeah, Px'd it. Miss it lots but it was a big bike and very heavy. Beautiful torquey motor though, could've ploughed fields with it.
You even asked the ambulance driver to put the blue flashing light on cos with you being a Yarkshire lass you like to get your monies worth
Just been reading and watching videos about the Honda VTR 1000 SP2. Attention to detail, first class build quality, HRC built, Honda probably lost money on every one of them, blah blah blah. Everything I appreciate and love as an egineer. I have a CB500X in the garage that I bought new last year for commuting and lets be clear, it's a basic bike that's (relatively) cheap. BUT, every time I ride it or clean it I find myself thinking 'how have Honda built something so good for the money?' Nowhere does it feel cheap and it handles beautifully, you can steer it with your hips if you wanted. Compare a Triumph at the same price point and they're not even close. I've test ridden the Street Twin & Cup and they're not even close to the CB500 bikes in terms of ride and finish. Anyway, I just ordered the Arton Works vintage racing gauge for the Thruxton so that'll cheer me up for a bit when it arrives
I have owned 2 Vstroms ('07 & '12) both great bikes btw, also have a friend with a CB500X and he won't stop telling me how much he likes it. There are so many good bikes out there I wish I could own them all. For now the LT is the one in the garage and my wife is of the belief if you have one butt you only need one bike. After 30 years I have learned to just trust her wisdom.
