I know my dad didn't need a test kit, thanks I referred to confirmed cases, which is what you referred to in your comments as well.
Leaving aside Dom Cums as a person and his monster pi**take of a trip, the "testing my eyesight,( with my family in the car, so we can all die together if I'm not ready yet and I hit a lorry head on)..." bit by itself is such an insult to the rest of the country, that apart of loosing his job, he should be slapped so hard, the ringing in his ear never goes away, just to remember to come up with some more believable shite next time, or to be, for once in his life, honest. What a fcuking disgrace of a man, who is not even trying to pretend he cares about any of the tax paying plebs..
Something else to worry you about, I got back to Stanstead airport at 2 am 25th April after 5 weeks locked down in The Gambia West Africa. All on the repatriation flight were temperature checked and filled in a questionnaire at Banjul airport around noon on the day before, then 3 hours in the crowded departure lounge, no separation on the plane, refuel and crew change in Gran Canaria. No checks at Stanstead only customs, 3 hours waiting for the trains to start then to Gatwick to pick up my bike and ride home. Strange empty M'ways to north Northants, Queue at supermarket for food, home by midday. I chose to isolate as far as possible for two weeks but at no time has anyone from "government" asked me about my health. It has been until the last few days has mandatory 14 day isolation been mentioned! what about all those who have arrive in the last weeks?
Oh dear! The government are thinking of relaxing more of the lock-down restrictions by allowing two households to meet and have garden parties and BBQs etc...just when Korea has announced its getting a further peak in infections.
I am going to say those two words that the government has tried to distance themselves from .. Herd immunity I still think it is a policy, just as long as the NHS doesn't get overrun & the work force get the economy going again then they are happy to let the healthy get infected.
Here's a question, I'd love to hear some explanations ... If the lockdown is responsible for flattening the curve, and the lockdown was applied nationwide at the same time, why are some parts of the country reportedly 2 or 3 weeks behind London? If the lockdown worked as designed, then all regions should have peaked at about the same time, the amplitude of the peaks will have varied, but not the timing of them. So, what's the explanation for the different timings? the only factors I can think off is herd immunity, or possibly Vit D, as North being higher latitude is a few weeks behind south. And no, I don't think London followed the rules any better than Newcastle.
it wasn't just a social engineering experiment, there were two competing models at the time, and still are, one from Oxford University which said the pandemic was near peak and cases would soon drop naturally, and the other from ICL which said without a lockdown 500,000 could die. we still don't know which model was closest to reality, as both predicted the flattening of the curve which we have seen. The lockdown was the right response, you don't gamble on 500,000 lives, in fact I was in favour of a lockdown in early February. But, now we need to understand what has happened, as the answers will help us relax the lockdown at an appropriate rate.
Well, this gathering from over the Memorial Day holiday weekend in the U.S. might serve to speed up the herd immunity bus. Interestingly, the politicians asked that those in attendance at this shindig self-quarantine for the next two weeks. Something tells me that's not the mentality of this particular bunch.
Yes it’s horrific to see so many people dying from misinformation, but come on, who can really be so gullible and stupid to believe that ingesting bleach could possibly be anything other than harmful. It even says it’s harmful on the bottle. It really does give weight to the theories mentioned previously that it’s natural selection at work.
Great article, @Smilinjack--though sad, infuriating, puzzling, and crazy all at the same time. I remember very well the couple in Phoenix who drank the hydroxychloroquine and that the husband died. I can't imagine believing some of the shite that's out there but evidently many do. It boggles the mind. The point in the article about those who get sick or who have a loved one die from COVID-19 being the ones who need to speak out is a good one. Clearly at this point people's beliefs and practices are all over the board. But how anyone can think that COVID is a hoax is beyond me.
Except BBC are not being truthful here either. The irony of a don't trust fake news article containing fake news. "And in Arizona, a couple mistakenly thought a bottle of fish tank cleaner contained a preventative medicine." google it, it's now claimed that the wife was a Democrat supporter, hated Trump, wanted to divorce her husband, and is now being investigated for homicide. She may have poisoned her husband, and managed to blame Trump at the same time. Lets see what the result of the investigation is first?
Well, hmmm. We here in Arizona sure didn't hear that aspect of the story about the Phoenix couple, @b_badger. I'll have do some poking around myself. What was the Google source??
I just edited it, to be fairer, just google it, you'll get multiple hits, or course it could be fake news in itself, but the homicide investigation appears to be accurate.
yes, but the BBC are not waiting for the homicide investigation, which puts them in the same league as Fox News and are making assumptions.
