so you are installing a up grade to the ignition that comes with a regulator /rectifier. Do you have a link to the product? The regulator rectifier is a combined unit. It does the rectifying part as well the regulation part. It is part of a battery charging system. It usually gets an AC power feed from the stator coil of the generator (alternator). Most modern regulator rectifiers and Stators form a three phase system, so there are three wires coming from the stator feeding into the regulator rectifier. The regulator rectifier then rectifies the voltage; that is it turns the voltage from AC into an undulating DC. The voltage is then regulated; the voltage being limited to a maximum of about 14.5 volts and feeds this regulated DC out to the battery. There are some single phase, regulator rectifiers as well which perform a similar function but there are only two wires coming from the stator into the regulator rectifier which is then fed to the battery in the same way as the three phase system. Why are there two different systems? Three phase is more efficient and single phase are cheaper to produce.
Don't think you can get there from here with the Pod. Looks to be 12v only. You'll have to convert your system to 12v for everything to work. (Lights& batt). Electronic ign also if 12v.
so this is you," lf you have an early bike with 6 volt, three wire alternator, 47204 or 47194, this can be converted to 12 volts" ??
Ok so if your purple wire is their brown +white wire, and everything else is the same, and you've traced the purple and it goes straight to the battery positive with no off shoots. Then your good eh?
According to my parts book a 1958 T20 or T20c uses a 468678 stator. Not a 47204 or 47194 stator mentioned in the Pod sheet. No apples to apples here. I would contact Podtronics and see what they have to say.
Right so You have 3 versions. 1/ what you have yellow, to alt. yellow , to alt black , to ? ( is it ammeter if you have one then battery -) red, to ? (is it battery + then earth) 2/ Old wire dia. dark green to Alt light green to Alt purple to 13 3. what the instructions say you have white green to Alt green black to alt red to battery + and earth brown white to Ammeter ( if fitted) then Battery -. Where do your red and black go?
