After a recommendation for a front mudguard extender for a Thunderbird 1600. Just been respraying the radiator grill (idle hands since she's not being taken out) and concerned how much muck & stoor clogs up the radiator fins.

Thanking you, just the job & not too pricey! I don't know why they don't fit them as standard. My lower radiator, under the grill, has baked on tar & top dressing. She's not overheating but it can't be a benefit. Suppose it is all to do with the aesthetic look of the mudguard.

I agree with the standard fitment so I also purchased one for my Speedmaster some time ago, they are not difficult to fit but much better with the mudguard removed but it can be done in situ if needed

Appreciate your update. I can see there are a number of videos on how to fit the extension. Did you just glue yours or drill & rivet? I'd like to take the mudguard off but hanging my head in shame since I've never had cause to remove one before. Does the wheel have to come out? If the wheel is left on, is there a fair amount of fettling to get the guard out? Already anticipating what swear words I will be using as I'm bending plastic....

I used the clips and did not just rely on sticky pads that do come off eventually, No I did not have to remove the wheel just the speedo cable guide and simply unbolted the mudguard and eased it off, once done it is done if you drill and use the press in clips.

    Job done!
Unfortunately due to the position of the bolts I would have had to take the wheel off to remove the mudguard so had to do it in situ (drilling it in place - what could go wrong?!). After telling myself to man up and the use of a garden trowel to protect the tyre (it was handy) it was all done with no dramas.
Tipping my hat to you Don The Don for your help.
