Ageed 100%. And we are duty bound to DEFINITELY think about those poor, heroic souls that are bearing the brunt of this pandemic - from hospital cleaners to consultant surgeons who are, quite literally, putting their lives on the line, tirelessly, every day whilst some of us seem to care more about our individual "freedoms". Maybe 'herd immunity' should be selective?
My old boss had a saying "you can't educate pork" it always made me laugh. I heard today that young doctors are making out their wills, they are so scared to go to work, then you have others complaining about losing their freedom for a while...ffs!
Great idea. Get thousands of military on the streets to police it. The more the merrier. Then see how the virus spreads. I forgot. These military don’t have families or partners and you just put them back in a box once your finished with them
Well we can all bitch on either side of the freedom debate, but today my 86 year mum was taken to hospital from the locked down nursing home where she lives. Don't know if it is covid-19 or her underling health issues, either way for me and my family this pandemic is real and I hope that people will respect the requests from our government to keep their distance and only go out when it is essential........ and by the way I cannot go to the hospital which is shite, but the right thing.
So sorry to hear that, our thoughts are with you and everyone else going through something similar at the moment
Best wishes for your mum Wessa. We're waiting for Covid 19 test results for my 80 year old dad, who's in a nursing home with a fever and breathing issues. The home has confirmed one CV19 case definitely so far. On the plus side, he is relatively healthy, apart from dementia, so might be ok even if he does have it.....
I think these last few posts from @Wessa and @tcbandituk bring this debate to one poignant conclusion Hope both your loved ones are OK
Good to know that some phrases translate across the pond, @Wessa. Like the term knob head, for example.
@Wessa @tcbandituk I’m so sorry to hear about your loved ones You know that we’re all thinking of you and sending our love
@Wessa and @tcbandituk, I sincerely hope that your mom and your dad are OK. Wishing you both and your parents well. Hang in there.
Hope all goes well for you and for tcbandit. Keep the faith, stay well and know that we are all thinking about you and your loved ones.
True, my wife has both her parents alive, both in their late 80's with underlying conditions that put them at risk and she is very worried over them, they both live in the states so she can't get anywhere near them.
I am following the rules to the letter ( as far as I know). I am not going to stop thinking my thoughts and expressing my opinions, in the expectancy of reasoned debate on whats going on and how I'm affected by it. If you want to blindly obey ( as I am doing) then well and good. We cant name call and shout down any opinion that is not the party line. and we should never just except any order at face value. Obedience and compliance do not achieve, omnipotence. Thanks for listening.
