Well, sort of. Meaning sunny and bright, but also a cold, northernly wind. This morning it was -2C when I got up. But yesterday I wheeled my old Thunderbird out of the garage for a spring cleaning.

I'm in Norway, and we're not in total lockdown, so I took it for a short spin. Because it's been six months since drivers have been used to bikers on the road, I pulled on my otherwise never used hi-vis vest. However, this didn't stop that old guy from ignoring the yield sign and pulling out directly in front of me. Boy, that was a close one. A useful reminder that it might be wise to delay opening the season until the hospitals are again open for normal business.

-2 makes for a very cold ride :cold_sweat::cold_sweat:
Stay safe out there, I reckon I can see the problem though. You'll never see those pesky car drivers with your glasses on your forehead :p:p

Haha, you're absolutely right! And it doesn't help that they are progressives!

That's what six months in the trenches will do.

so have I mate and I still ride every winter, but I am more choosy these days about when I go out, and of course I have a 4x4 for work, thought the best in the snow pic is from an older one I no longer own

I remember riding from Cardiff to Bedford on a winters morning, it was so called that when I pulled over for a pee in the hedge I had two problems, firstly I had lost all feeling in my hands and secondly I could not find him....

The local Triumph shop, Classic Motorcycle, got them for me. They’re made by Hepco & Becker, German manufacturer of luggage, protectionetc. for bikes. https://www.hepco-shop.de/en/ I can’t really claim they improve the looks of my bike, but they aren’t too obtrusive either. As this is my first bike for more than forty years I was certain I would drop it, so I found it sensible to protect all that shiny stuff the best I could. I’m in my fourth season now and all’s good, so perhaps I should remove them.

It is a bit silly to have a 240 as your hobby car, I know. But my parents had it for 15 years since new in 1987 and I have had it for 18 years now, so it’s a bit sentimental. It has been me who has taken care of it all these years, done the upgrades etc., as it is pretty straightforward to work on. It really is in mint condition. If none of my sons will have it when I’m gone, they can bury me in it. Why the flags? Believe it or not, last August a couple wanted it as their bridal car!

    What a gorgeous bike.
I toured your beautiful country last August all the way up to the Nordkapp. (There’s a link to my trip blog in the signature area below). I’d love to ride there again.
Very wise not to ride at the moment.

You have a beautiful bike and it does you justice those older bikes are some of Triumphs best, I also like the old Volvo I had many of them what I called real Volvo's 240, 740's before they turned the engine transverse and sold out to foreign car makers.

Well, that depends on where in Norway one are. In my area I have been able to ride more or less all year around, a bit cold sometimes, but just need a bit more clothes :D

Love older Volvos too. Had a 1967 122 Amazon for many years. I am now enjoying a more modern [2007] transverse mounted V-8 S-80 AWD. As for old Triumphs, they just get better with age ! ;) ...J.D.

You're welcome. I need to do another big trip for my Dad. (Another cancer victim). Be next year now.
Was thinking either through Russia or down to Greece.

We've been meaning to go to Greece one year, so far never got further than Croatia for one reason or another. Can't complain though, Croatia is beautiful.
