Michelin also roll out regular discount codes for free fitting if you buy a pair. The supplier stamps a discount code to your receipt, send a copy to Michelin promo department, within a couple of weeks they’ll refund you the fitting fee. Keep an eye out. May be useful.
Just ordered myself a pair of Pilot Power 5, will be interesting to see if they are any better than power 3 I am using now. And Demon-tweeks, they just have to much fun stuff, when I checked out I all of a sudden had an Abba bikestand added to the list.
I use tyreleader for bike tyres , come from Germany but only a couple of days delivery and v. competitive prices I think . As for tyre choice , for all round use I reckon the pr4 or pr5 take some beating , grip good wet and dry , and you do get good mileage . A big plus for me as I have had 2 S3's and I was struggling to get 1500 miles out of the rear tyres (PR2's and SC's) . I do run a softish suspension set up basically as the roads I ride on can be quite bumpy , but taking into account my last R1 would do 3000m no problem on a rear I can only think it could also possibly be the torque of the S3
Agree with you my friend imho you cannot beat pilot power tyres the cheapest ones you can get just plain old pilot powers My Pirelli super corsas slid on greasy roads so banged powers on best tyres by a mile I think I paid £140 for the pair would not have owt else on a 17/18 speed triple r
This thread is like asking what's the best Scotch. Had Avon Storm 2 and Storm 3D on RS. The Storm 2 seemed better in the rain. Running Conti Road Attack 3 on Speed Triple and loving the performance. Going to dump the prehistoric Bridgestone rubber on the Bonnie and I think Avon will get my business. Roadrider MkII. and Talisker is the best.
I've had Supercorsa, s21 and Sportsmart TT since I bought the S3. Overall I would recommend s21 in my experience. Supercorsa brillant in the dry and best road tyre out there for me. Low mileage and not good in the wet being its only negatives. S21 brillant. Warm up quickly. Confident immediately (knee down in first 30 miles and zero chicken strips) fantastic drive and edge grip. We're superb on damp roads but not ridden fully wet although Im told there very good. S22 is better but I paid £169 for the s21 as a current tyre. Sportmsart TT. Mixed review. Had great grip and confidence but did have a slide at full lean and road conditions were fine so suspect a tyre issue. Mileage poor. 1000 Road miles and there totally finished to the 1mm legal limit. I normally replace at 1.5-2mm but the way these wear I couldnt justify replacing them at 800 miles. Hope the info is useful.
Fully agree with this post. I've run the original Pilot Powers on my last three bikes and happy so far. Usually get around 3000 out of a rear and at less than £150 delivered whats not to like?
Its all relative to pace and what you want from a tyre. There is no bad tyres these days, but there are particular tyres suited to different needs.
You really need to try the pilot road 4 or 5's . I would be surprised if you don't get double the mileage you are currently getting , and they are as grippy as you will need , in wet or dry , for road use . I dare say they would handle a trackday , but obviously , if you're a quick trackdayer , there is going to be better rubber out there for that purpose.
Agree the S21 are good. However, is there a tyre as grippy with better milage? I am pondering on Metzeler???? M7 or Roadtec 01.......
I am on my second set of s21s there excellent tyres I’ve also had 1 set of 01s which had excellent grip wet or dry but the tyre profile is too flat for a sporty bike in my opinion and my front 01 was finished in under 4000 miles as the shoulders of the tyre were baldy worn.
