I'd have thought the Germans would have bigger things to worry about at the moment. Also some of their prized sporty BMWs and Mercs can be pretty loud, are they going to ban cars at weekends as well. You would have thought the most sensible solution would be to introduce a max db limit (if they don't already have one) as we do here. It seems like the reported proposals are typical crazy over legislation and sledge hammer to crack a nut. Thank feck we are out of the EU
As usual it is the few spoiling it for the many. There are a considerable number of VERY loud exhausts out there and that is bound to upset the general public. There was a mention of noise cameras being introduced to the UK some time ago and it is easy to understand the residents living along some of the favourite riding roads getting really fed up with loud exhausts on summer days. Some noise yes, a silent electric bike would be potentially a problem but excessive noisy exhausts more so. We have the Harley tractors going by on a main road about 200m from where I live and many of them are far too loud.
It is a pity they don’t put as much effort into general anti social behaviour, rather than going after motorcyclist. Pubs and club kicking out times and gangs of kids causing noise and trouble in local neighbourhoods.
I may be wrong but I think that Germany already bans motorcycles from specific towns on weekends due to the sheer number involved.
Yes I think we can expect to see lots of petty and punitive legislation introduced making driving ICE vehicles so frustrating that people will submit to the ever mounting pressure to go electric...what a depresing thought
Yes, the local residents have an action campaign group aimed at preventing noise and speeding, which is unashamedly aimed at just motorcyclists. Local MP is involved (he's a major league twat anyway) and a test camera was installed in the layby opposite Loomies but it's gone now. I guess the locals have been quiet during the winter season but expect them to pipe up again come April!
