Me too, with home made bows and arrows as well. Progressed to air rifles as a young teenager. Great fun............until one mate shot me in the arm with a pellet. Christ did that sting.
I’m not sure where it is specifically, Don. But I know it’s somewhere around Tucson. I didn’t take this photo but got a wild hair to google “Tucson sunset images” and this one came up. Give it a Google if you’re so inclined. So many beautiful photos of Tucson sunsets are out there! When I’m up and about I’ll try to get some good shots of my own.
I was a subscriber to Arizona Highways for 6 or 7 years through the early - mid '90's and the photography of David Muench is a lasting memory. This is (I think) one of his shots .... I'm not sure that this one is - it is from the magazine but not necessarily from the lens of Mr. Muench. The relatively limited area of desert where saguaro grow has such an iconic western/cowboy image association that even 'ordinary' photographs can, IMHO, look achingly beautiful.
