Seen several posts on folk using 16mm anchor chain for security,has anyone here done so or have you bought different sized chain,what’s your opinion and what cost It’s for garage use so weight not an issue,I’ve got 2 abus locks,a thick xena disc lock and a oxford monster chain through a groundhog anchor but many put down the oxford saying not that good.
My view is that the best thing to do is to increase the security of the garage itself, try to keep the scroats out of the garage. once they are in they can work away at what ever is used to secure the bike. It sounds as if you already have an above average level of security on your bike whilst in the garage

yes door may be a weak point as I’ve got heavy duty shackle and padlock on door,maybe better to buy a garage door defender that bolts to concrete probably cheaper too thanks.
Anchor chain and security chains have different physical properties. Security chains will be hardened and also are likely to be made of a different steel alloy to resist attack, and therefore for similar thicknesses you won't get the same level of security from an anchor chain. (I recommend Pragmasis, by the way!)
Can get hardened anchor chain but it’s not great deal cheaper than almax or pragmasis,garage door needs mor secure first as at moment it’s weakest link as Anne would say .
I use an oxford security chain in my garage. For me it is about slowing down any potential scroats that want my bikes and any chain will do that. Like most security on a bike, if they want it they will likely be able to take it. It will just take them a little longer with additional secuity in place. It might just make them think again and move along to a bike without the increased security.
I was playing semantics With a grinder on or off the floor makes little difference. However, if you watch how some people use bolt cutters then yes you are correct as it makes it a lot more difficult
I have had locks, chains, alarms with pagers, even had a fire alarm bell in the garage... Get GOOD insurance coverage and don't sweat it.
