Kia Ora I’ve just bought a Tiger800XRT!! What a beautifully smooth bike to ride. Just getting it home has clocked up 823kms, so it’s ready for the first service. Anyone any idea how many over the service mileage invalidates the warranty? I ask as my nearest dealer is 230kms away. Oh I’m in NZ
Sadly it’s the weekend and I can’t ask anyone til Monday. So I shall have to continue to sit and look at it in the garage until then. Shame as it’s a beaut of a day.
Hi Mutleee and welcome to the forum from another kiwi Looking forward to seeing your ride. warranty issues only if you have a problem, but best to be safe.
Welcome from sunny California. The only real important maintenance item is the first oil change. Also a drive chain lube and checking the drive chain slack. (My chain was out of spec at 500 miles and I had to get it back to the spec slack of 1 inch.) You do not have to have the dealership do the work. It is easy to do. Can you change the oil/filter yourself? Adjust the chain yourself? On any modern bike the first service is really only the oil / filter change and going over the bike to make sure everything is tight. If you change the oil yourself use a motorcycle specific synthetic oil and use a Triumph OEM oil filter. You will not have a warranty issue. Change the oil yourself and then get to the shop when you can to have the shop go over the bike.
