I have been caught short , the grandies came home early , so only half way through. Oh well there's always tomorrow Mind numbingley boring bit ahead , scraping the old gasket off ... Still gotta trace where the wire traverses under, and up the back of the engine . It doesn't connect where my internet researching says, internet searches said above air box next to right hand frame rail !! But I found the plug on left hand side ! Under here I was looking for a good while. You can just see alternator wiring plug at top right , where I tested the three phases. cheers capt If you look closely , zoom in you can see my swing arm through the air filter
Its not terrible mate - probably get away with a spray cleaner and a cloth rather than a full wash. Tiger needs a good bath though after Tuesday's trip alongvthe M3, M25 and M4
I took Doris out yesterday, don’t know what you’re whinging about, @steve lovatt , mine came back looking as though it had been out on a run! You’re beginning to sound like a middle aged bmw owner Bought one of these yet? you know you want to!
Here is the alternator 3 phase plug.. Three yellow wires are the individual phases. Ah there it is , my small flat tip ....
Gave the Thruxton it’s weekly clean, having only taken it out after its last weekly clean and found this on the engine covers Now bearing in mind I live next to the sea but keep the bike under cover when not in use this still seems quite excessive for three weeks from spotless to pitted!! So attacked it with autosol and elbow grease and it’s a bit better But still got some pitting So that’s me kicked in the bollox for not covering the bike in ACF50 Best nick
Went to start the ST3 for first time in weeks not enough juice in the battery despite a trickle charger. Charged properly, took it out, washed it and then finally took the damn alarm off!
Now that the T120 is running properly, Radiator fixed with Jbweld. It was time to start on the wheels, ordered a pair of Pilot activs, got front within a few days but rear is due Tuesday. So it was time to deep clean the rather dirty/rusty Front rim and spokes, in readiness for a tubeless conversion. Have cleaned the inside and put silicone sealant round all the spokes ready for 3m tape. Surprised at the amount of rust inside the wheel around some of the nipples, used a wire wheel on my drill to clean them.
We followed a track to an outer building in the middle of nowhere prior to a post ride deep clean. View attachment IMG_6294.jpeg
TRMCC ride to seaside town of Raglan. Road were great since the winter ride, with no grit on the corners.
Couple of quiet ones after the ride. Mate’s Storm went better with shocks adjusted up a couple of clicks
Nice! I would have been coming out to Hamilton in a few weeks time for work but my missus booked a holiday somewhere else instead!
I spent all the weekend riding with a couple of mates on damp muddy roads, so this morning was bike cleaning time. I also cleaned chain before lubing it and as I noticed that side stand operation wasn't especially slick, decided to clean and lube it's pivot. That was nearly my downfall, as I took it off the rear paddock stand the bike went over further than I expected and I had the sudden realisation that I had forgot to put side stand down! Now, when I take bike off stand I use my free hand to grip the luggage rack to steady it, between that and a reflex action to get my leg and hip against the side of the passenger backrest I somehow managed to hold bike at a very jaunty angle where the foot pegs were just about touching the ground! I then got it upright and inched along to where I could get side stand down, phew.
Almost dropped my 1100 Virago a couple of years back, god knows where I got the strength to bring it back upright again from almost completely on its side. Miraculous, now where’s my Superwoman outfit. My heart was going like the clappers after though.!!
I'm now officially an @dilligaf supporter ! I agree wholeheartedly about electricery ! I've fixed so many things electrically and now it's switching off still , but it's not the ignition pick up coil which was faulty , symptoms of new fault , runs fine and switches off , will restart immediately I'm getting annoyed and a bit confused. cheers capt
Unlucky or not might just depend on where she booked the holiday, Wessa! Fiji, Hawaii and the like....lucky. Yuma, AZ, Puerto Rico with the earthquakes, or most of Australia right now.....not so lucky.
