Classic DD, now I can see why you were fired from the estate agency job you had, if only all property adds were written by you :sob:.

Pity the poor buggers that buy it, we bought our nice peaceful retirement home but don’t understand why these hairy bikers keep knocking on the door demanding bacon butties and a cup of tea.

That is not a burnt out shell, that is an extensive and serviced building plot ripe for redevelopment with expansive views over the Pennines........

I can only imagine it is a bit of a punt with a whiff of the goodwill of the former business. You would be in for the topside of £700k to re-open which would take a shedload of bacon butties and lakes of tea to recoup. You would want to know if the books showed it was commercially viable. I believe the caravan pitch at Devil’s Bridge went for silly money some years ago so just maybe.........

Looks like the rebuild starts soon. Reports are they've put signs up stating car park is closing from 20th of December.

A friend of mine discovered Hartside Café for us many years ago, when he misjudged a bend and used the carpark as a run-off area. He didn't want to brake hard on the loose surface, and much to the amusement of bystanders, travelled at speed across the carpark, and came to a halt front wheel up against the far wall and in a slight dip. He had to be helped to get off the bike and to pull it back up out of the dip. Lucky he didn't domino a load of bikes on his way.

£300k & £700k to renovate (repeating estimate above) - loose change for some Londoner looking for a place in the country.

Views are great when the weather is clear, but the café didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary to me. But then biker cafes seldom do to me - the atmosphere is usually good with all the bikes & bikers, but food/coffee etc a bit so-so.

Agree - café wasn't up to much but the ride up out of the Lakes and across to Hexham take some beating on a clear fresh day - not so great for the other 364 days a year...…..

Mug of tea for £1 and a big sausage roll. Always thought it pretty good, but that's all I used to buy.

Road up from either side is good fun, but loads of Muppets getting it wrong. Sides of the road from the west, were always covered in bike plastics .
I couldn't have get a wiggle on, coming up that on the gixxer:blush:

One morning got the Honda out (probably about 2 years before above picture) ready for the commute to work, big blue skies and not one cloud to be seen, oh it looked a promising day!
Theres not many days like that really and you only live once etc.
F*ck it, mind made up and were off. A quick calculation of timing for ringing in sick and set off totally in the opposite direction to the original intention ;):p.
Had a great ride up through Middleton in Teesdale with a stop off at Hartside for coffee. The views were great and this must have been the one day per year that IanF referred to?
The Lake District beckoned in the distant, so then off to Keswick and down to Ambleside for a spot of dinner, Daisy cafe:) nice place, reasonable prices.
Decided to go west over the Hardnott and Wrynose passes then home in time for tea.

Great day out of about 300 miles or so

....... and got paid for it :joy: you retired folk can't say that :yum

Oh dear, that's going to take more than a lick of paint to sort out now. I wonder what they'll do with the land now - build something new or return it to moorland.
