Nice run out to Matlock via Via Gellia road and home via cafe in Monyash, Then spent ages washing it off before the rain fell. Think I'll get a bike drier! Oldfart
Hi, half ton. Nope, don't know "on the huh" but am definitely familiar with "there ya go". Thanks! It's only 7:15am in Arizona and I've already learned something new on the forum.
Yep, half ton! Thanks. That does help. "Out of kilter" is a phrase I know and sometimes use. I appreciate the explanations and clarifications! It's all English but amazing how the same words can be rearranged to mean different things in different cultures.
Well , it's not been done yet ! But today I bought two LED H4 pattern headlight Globes . They are going in the 1998 Sprint Executive , low beams are Amber ! High beams are pure white. The Amber is 'Said to be safer' as you get less glare from signage and should be better in rain and fog. Bought them off Ebay for $34 a piece , I could have bought a set from local 'AutoPro' car parts for $179 , only benefit being I'd already have them installed ! The Ebay items are about 1/3rd brighter in Lumen rating. Will post pictures to show differences made. Now have to take the before photo shot's. cheers capt
Fitted some new shocks to the Bonneville this morning, which were aquired from a Triumph dealer having been removed from a bike at new. I also fitted a lower chain guard to the Street Triple.
The only tools I used for removal were a socket wrench, and then a brass wire brush and a die to clean the old thread lock off the bolts. For installation, medium thread lock and a torque wrench. Just replace them one at a time
Duck, I believe it was opined by our very own DD that a Birmingham Screwdriver is probably the only tool you’ll really need. All the rest are for girls eg: fiddly ratchet spanners, 500+ piece socket sets that contain things that no-one knows what they’re for or how to use them...
Has anyone ever heard of a Monday hammer?, I can remember a massive old sledge type hammer at the colliery, with a head that weighed 1cwt, (8 stone) , I was told it was used in the old day's a bit like putting with a golf club,so that must be low swings, it was kept as a novelty for us daft young uns to try our strength on, we must be getting weaker as life becomes easier, when you read about the old days when women used to carry sacks of corn, or coal weighing 16 stone, it's hard to believe.
purchased a 19 tooth gearbox sprocket and fitted it today but hasn't stopped raining so haven't road tested it. after knocking back the tab washer I undone the nut with my fingers. not sure if had become loose with vibration or never been done up properly. 2007 T100. 865cc. carb. 10.500 miles.
What, Cyborgbot?! "All the rest are for girls"??!! Very funny...... I'll have you know that I don't need or use any tools. I ride my bike to the dealership and they use the tools. P.S. I just looked up "Birmingham Screwdriver". Awesome!
Nice sunny morning so out of the garage came the Speedmaster. Took a ride to Hunstanton, very nice. On the way back I took the A149 into Lynn. Now along the 149 new average speed cameras have been fitted. These cams work on the ANPR system. Now I went past the first one doing a tad over 70. The 149 on that stretch is a 60mph. I turned off the 149 before I got to the next cam. Am I likely to get a ticket?
well, logically you need at least two cameras to have captured your image to allow them to calculate the average speed between those points. If you were only caught by one and it’s not a traditional speed camera then u ought to be fine (oops wrong word)...
Thats what I am hoping Cyborg. Tried looking it up but cannot find anything about single camera action. Will just have to wait for the postman and hope the only envolopes that come through the door contain christmas cards. Merry Christmas all.
Today I took the 98 Sprint Executive apart , pulled a shim out of each of the carburettor's , quick test ride round town. Still pulls ok and if the Thermo fan cutting in as I pulled back into the drive , points too it running leaner . Was way too rich , fuel economy was down to 14 klms litre , should be 17 to 18 on sprint. Will set and check trip Meter on next ride. cheers capt
Went out to the shed. Removed the covers, shed a tear, covered her up again. I finish for xmas in a few days, so will have plenty of spare time to do a proper service and get her ready for new year MOT.
