I'd like to know what are the best things to happen to you on a Thruxton. May have to keep it clean, but for me the first was a dry, sunny day in January. This year. Bike 3 weeks old . Left home and ran out for about 40 miles, probing each bend a little more as I learnt the bike after a break of fifteen years away from them. Stopped for a coffee at Slaidburn cafe. Met 3 other bikers and chatted for half an hour before heading home in a dwindling light, fuel running low but grin very wide. I thought the first of many.....! Come on, what are your stories?
Mine was pretty much the same as yours but about a year ago, went out for a 30 mile run on my new ( to me ) Thruxton took the A roads each bend seemed to get more comfortable came back after 2 and a half to 3 hrs and 140 miles knowing I had made the right decision in going back to biking after 15 years and the Thruxton and I were going to spend a good few years together.
Finally got out for a ride in some decent weather this afternoon! Just over 70 miles on some of my local favourite roads and it was great! Getting to know the bike a lot more now and developing a feel for the engine. Definitely glad I had the opportunity to get this bike and nice to get some warmth into the tyres for once. All my previous 600 miles in the last few weeks since taking delivery have been cold and at times, extremely blustery, so certainly my best Thruxton moments today.
Heh heh creaky, I think you like me find your best thruxton moment comes the next time you take her out after your last best thruxton moment
a good thruxton moment comes when you have spent over an hour trying to get your new rear indicators and brake light connected to your wiring harness without it blowing fuses or lights working intermittently and you think you have explored all possibilities, for it all to work perfectly for no apparent reason and you will have time to go out for a ride in the sunshine!!
Just loving this late summer weather. Already fitted in a couple of 50-60 mile late afternoon trips along my favourite local roads this week.
Couldn't agree more. Really got to know the bike over the past few months but the last few weeks have brought some unexpected sun and amazing rides
Yeah. Did the Distinguished Gentlemans ride last week but riding in formation with 22 bike was very slow. Bring on the sunshine and a few more miles
