Haven't heard a thing from OlyYam here for ages. He was always very helpful and knowledgeable. Regards Joe.
Quite glad I never put my nose around that particular door (the Brexit thread one that is). I am boycotting the news until it is either revoked or completed as I cannot stand the constant rubbish spouted by so called expert commentators or the way the news anchors get their kicks making everyone of out to be morons, even if they are indeed morons.
Dozers Dad. Well it's got to be OldYam's choice. I just thought that there were a few members on here that had problems with their bike and OldYam used to always chip in with very sensible answers and help. But people on here will jump at any thing to raise a laugh and it's just fun. I get it and sometimes give it out. But I am thick skinned and take it all in my stride or shrug it off. Bloody Brexit thread it will ruin us all. That's why I stay out of it. And I really don't care that much about it. I got my bikes my health and love the freedom. Thanks for sharing that. And OldYam perhaps if you do read this God Bless and ride safe. Joe.
Dozers Dad. I just sit on the fence. You know me great old chicken. Yes we all get knotted up sometimes. Except you. you are a top bloke with a fancy Garage. Regards & Ride Safe. Joe.
Dozers Dad Never you are Mr Cool. Pity we weren't closer I would got my boy to help out. He rewired a great deal of our extension and my garage when it caught fire. Regards Joe.
I've wondered that, too. Other than @BonnieCat and me, I don't know many women on this forum. I've seen a few posts from other women but then when I look back they've not been on the forum in ages. I know the most recent stats re. how many women riders there are incidates that 20% of riders are women these days. But I'd venture to say that the ratio male forum members to female isn't even close to that. Any hypotheses from you guys out there?? I have a few.
No idea but judging by the look on his fizzog I'd guess the one at the front has been on the Brexit thread
Betraying no confidences Oldyam had his reasons and it was down to unrelated external events and lousy timing. He may yet reappear. The one at the Front looks like every Remainer who cannot accept a result! Incoming!
I’ll second that Trev, I have no interest in politics in the slightest. I couldn’t even put a name to a face and there’s no point in opening thebrexit thread for me. Someone said to me this week who are you going to vote for, well to take an idiot out and replace with another idiot is just not worth a loss in my hourly day pay nor a minute away from my man cave!!
If I remember correctly Oldyam is a fellow brummie. There has been the odd disparaging remark on here about brummies being thick. Some of us definitely resemble that accusation and don't really give a stuff. Perhaps Oldyam did take offense.
It's a 40 mile round trip for me to vote. So I asked for a postal vote. Don't know if that'll happen yet.... @Sandi T.... I wonder if its the average sense of humour that puts the ladies off. Actually, more likely got better things to do! I'll get me coat.
@Big Sandy, I suspect it's the sense of humor sprinkled throughout the Forum that's more likely than the ladies having better things to do. Unless those "better things to do" include cooking, housecleaning, and the like.
In general (v-e-r-y general) I tend to agree with you, Ducky. But that said, men and women both have senses of humor though often the humor is quite different. There's a surprise, eh? When I was younger I used to think men and women weren't very different. Was I ever wrong! But, hey, I like to embrace differences. I have another theory. Maybe some of those ladies' "better things to do" that Big Sandy mentioned include being out riding their motorbikes?! Which is what I would be doing right now if it weren't for this nasty cold that Mr. Sandi gave me. So here I am on the forum. Actually, for me, being on the forum is one of my "better things to do".
I think we guys should be really, really happy that women do have a sense of humour, otherwise we'd be pretty lonely. Apart from that, perhaps it's time for a reprint of this old book.
Thought I'd find this online, Erling, and order a copy. It looks intriguing and funny! But check out this price on thriftbooks.com. It was even more expensive on Amazon! Yep, a reprint would be good.
