Hi folks. Newbie here. Riding some 40+ years...heck, 44 years I suddenly realise. SInce the 70s, been a long time Beemer rider, with many other bikes in the mix but never a Triumph twin although always liked them. At my age, most bigger bikes are now too heavy and too tall (I also have a dodgy hip) so moved to a Honda NC750x a couple of years ago.
However, when I realised the relatively light weight and lowish seat heights of Triumph twins I got interested. Tried a few demo twins this year and fallen for them - just can't decide which!
Tried a T100 - lovely. Then tried a T120 - love the power, but the weight was noticeable. Sales guy threw the keys of the new Speed Twin to me. I loved it.
However, the reality of things is the Street Twin or T100 are best for me. Yet to try a Street.
Not rushing - next spring will see more action :) Hopefully I can read lots about the models on here.

    Thanks (to all above).
The overall weight/centre of gravity is significant. However, the curved ball is the Speed Twin which is lighter than the others and incredible to ride - seducing.
I'm telling myself two things. Firstly, it's the least 'classic' look of all of them. Secondly, it think it begs to be 'ridden' all the time - probably too fast! Not one for those times when you want to take it gently after a hard day at work, or out for a pootle at the weekend.

Hi, davgb, and welcome to this awesome forum! Best of luck with your search for a new motorcycle. I always enjoy being "on the hunt" for a new bike--the research, the test riding, conversations with other riders. And I think it's great that you're on the hunt for a Triumph. In reading your posts I'm wondering if you've considered the Bobber? Hopefully you can find a dealership that will let you test ride which may make your decision relatively easy. :)

Thanks. Yes. The back roads down here are a joy. I kinda think the Street will be perfectly good, where the Speed would be too powerful (and wasted).

Hello and welcome to the forum. I went from a nc750x to a street twin and for me it’s a great bike. I use it every day for the daily commute and a bimble at weekends. I find it’s a bike that puts a smile on my face every time I ride it not to much power but enough to have fun. Plus for me easy to clean with out any of the chrome to worry about. I have thought about upgrading to the speed but the same as you not sure I would use the extra power. Have ridden the newer street twin which has more power and better brakes I would probably upgrade to one of them.

Ah. That's interesting. I have to say I like the NC. It just lacks the character which makes biking right. Given the previous Street Twin has about the same HP as the NC, but more torque, there's no loss on performance. The extra power of the newest Street that makes it seem like a viable option to ensure satisfaction in all respects.

That is the one reason I got rid of the nc just had no character for me and I just did not enjoy riding it any more. The street just has that character plus the noise with the standard pipes is very good.
