Just had my renewal subscription come through from Total AV, was a bit surprised to see this was gonna be nearly £60 after my loyally bonus of 50% reduction .... really! Just told them to cancel, what are you guys using, what does it cost & most importantly does it work?
On a Mac so not bothered, the one time I needed something I used the free Malwarebytes trial which worked a treat
I use Bullguard Premium, but I never carry over the subscription, it's a lot cheaper to start a afresh every year if you buy it from Amazon, I save around £40 each year.
I had Bullguard last time, I think they all give you a decent price first time then try & sting you in year 2.
I have used AVG for years, but that has become pricey like nearly all the others. However if you only want anti-virus they do a free version: https://www.avg.com/en-gb/ppc/protection-offer-comparison Edit: If you use this link there sould be a discount off the full version, down to £59.99 (this is for multiple computers): https://www.avg.com/en-gb/ppc/prote...o-hczWThlJJtFeOLbxhoCwxgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Your internet provider might do a free one, mine is Talktalk they provide a descent antivirus but it's only for one device
Good call that mate, I am with Virgin, just did a bit of research & they have a basic free one or something called F-Secure SAFE which is free for 12 months, so might just do that. Thanks to all that have come back with advise, gotta love this forum!
We use Bitdefender which we had installed at our local computer repair shop for 20 odd squids. Should have cost more than that apparently but he's a 'one man band' who is happy to make a profit without ripping people off.
Eset mobile security. About £20 a year for 5 devices. Used to have avast for the Windows puters, but don't have them anymore.
PC Win 10 I used to use Bit defender but since getting a new computer earlier this year I didn't bother I use the installed Windows defender I use a lot of emails and internet cruising plus online gaming I've never had any bother, it's not in your face and my computer is perfectly healthy Best of all, it doesn't cost a penny
Have used Avast free for over 10 years with zero problems Also use free antispyware which I run every week.
My router has its own built in defenses from Talk talk dont know how good but i also use Avast free and Malwarebytes free...no had any problems in years.
If you're on Windows 10, just use the built in windows defender, it's actually pretty damn good, you don't really need anything else. https://www.howtogeek.com/220232/how-to-use-the-built-in-windows-defender-antivirus-on-windows-10/
Every little helps, as the old lady said as she peed into the sea. One of my mum's favourite sayings, bless her! Thanks, Mum! There's no wonder I've turned out the way I have!!!!
