Hi,does anybody know if there is an ignition live around the back of the clocks/under the screen area for the sat nav on the 1050 tiger,if so what am i looking for as regards to wire colour ,thanks
What about using one of the live feeds to the position lamp bulb in the headlight, IIRC you want yellow (on my speed triple anyway) the black to the bulb will be the earth, just use the other colour. Using that will give you an ignition switched live 12volt. Most sat navs run 5volts, are you planning to fit a USB type socket, they run 5volts usually.?
Back on my 59 plate tiger there was a dedicated sat nav feed under the nose cone. You had to buy a fly lead to fit the connector from triumph. IIRC cost about a tenner. Alternatively just cut the connector off the loom and use your own coupling choice. I can't remember the wire colours but I'm pretty sure it's the only spare connector under there. Btw, there's another spare live under the tank taped to the frame. I think that was for the optional heated grips. I ran that bike from new for about 5 years and got quite intimate with it. . So just holler if you have any more queries. Edit, just remembered. I think that lead under the tank may have been for the optional accessory socket and not the grips. Oops.
Thanks chaps, can't wait to get it and start putting some bits on.Including making my own above the clocks satnav bracket.Already made one in the past for a triumph.
Did you get any further with this? There are two feeds behind the clocks both on a 10A fuse, one for GPS permanent live ♂️2 way, and a 3 way for heated grips (this has the ignition switched live also). Additionally as mentioned by Johnjo, there is the aux socket wire under the tank, taped to the loom. But again this is a 2 way permeant live feed. Againg I think this is 10A
I wired mine to the horn on a 12 tiger 800, just make sure your meg goes to the frame or similar. In the tiger 800 section is how I adapted a satnav mount to go above the clocks Have a look at this thread. I know yours is a different bike but it might give you some ideas
