Hi All I am picking up a Tiger 1200 tomorrow and wondered has anyone fitted a hugger to one of these. Is there a preferred manufacturer. Would be nice to buy from a UK company.
Hi Rob. Thanks for the welcome. I have been riding a Pre V-Tec VFR800 and then bought a 1200GS as it is the bench mark for the class of bike. Not my best buy I'm afraid, it just does nothing for me. Feels like a WWII engine with 21st century electronics. I had a test ride on a 1200 Tiger and I have to say I was sold within the first few minutes. So much better in every way. Not fair really to compare the two as the BMW was 12 years old and the Tiger was new but having said that it does not feel like I'm riding a tractor. My only complaint would be there is no protection for the underside of the seat unit or I would imagine me or my pillion in the wet. Hence my question about a hugger.
N T Bikes. Welcome to the Family. Hey we Northern Irish men are rising in numbers now. Where do you hail from. Pyramid Plastics are a good UK company and do most bikes worth a try. Now you have to hit the upload a file button here and show us your steed To feed us all here in the asylum. Regards & Ride Safe. Joe.
Hi Joe Thanks everyone for the welcome. I live in North Down. Where are you from yourself? You have clearly been reading my post. Here is the real catch, I am a member of the BMW Club. as soon as I get the chance tomorrow I will take a couple of pics and post them here. First I will be putting a few miles on the bike. I have it booked in for the first service 1 week away.
Hi All I said I would post some pics of my new Tiger 1200 XRt. Picked it up Saturday lunch time and had 445 miles on it by Sunday tea time. Great bike. Deal was for panniers and a top box. The panniers are in but the frame has not arrived. However the deal to put the box on worked OK. The dealer, Phillip McCallen (yes the ex racer) has been brilliant. They had a rail and got me the 58 litre Outback Tracker box and back support. I have to say Phillip has been super and really helpful, as have his staff especially Gordon. The keyless ignition is a bit of a faff when you need to open the fuel tank for fuel, (need a key then lol) I have the suspension set for comfort and running in rain mode until run in.
N T Bikes. Terrific machine you have got. And nothing wrong with BMW Some nice machines coming from them at the present. I originally came from Bushmills and know McCallen down Dervock way actually seen him race some time ago. He was the wise one and got out of racing before it got the better of him like Joey. I haven't been home much since my Mum passed away. Somehow lost the heart to go over without her there with her welcoming arms and a cup of tea. But I will get back maybe next year. I will drop you a line perhaps we could meet for a cuppa somewhere and a good old chat. Regards & Enjoy the new bike. Joe.
