Hi I have a triumph daytona 955i 06 reg and the main wire on the rectifier is getting really hot to the point that it's to hot to touch the rectifier has been tested with a meter and is ok their is no break in the cable it gets hot where the wire is thick and gets split into 2 smaller cables on the main wire loom
Is it a combined rectifier and regulator unit or seperate? It seems like the regulation is failing......you say you have tested with meter, do you get steady 13.5 to 14 volts at battery during tickover and when being revved? If it fluctuates wildly and goes over 15.5 volts dc then it is probably regulator failing. If it is delivering ac at all then it is rectifier failing. I dont know your bike but most modern bikes have combined regulator/rectifier units........and all my old clunkers (newest bike is 1980 Bonnie) have been fitted with them in place of the old Zennor diodes and cheese cutter rectifiers. Also meant to ask...is the battery holding its charge and/or it getting hot as well?
Hi don't know what sort it is but yes it holds it peak current and the battery does not get hot here is a phot of it
In that case it seems like you have a bad connection that is arcing or you having something pulling a lot of current due to partial short circuit.
Take a look at this, http://www.triumphrat.net/speed-tri...-diagnostics-rectifier-regulator-upgrade.html it's got a lot about the reg/rec issues with daytonas and there's a fair bit about hot wires etc
