...I am bored at work, so want to buy something... Fed up with not really being able to see much beyond my elbows I think I am going to buy some new mirrors so I can finally see decently behind me. I have extenders on my bike..but these are getting longer and longer...and starting to look a little silly (and I am not a stranger or mind looking a bit silly, but even I have a limit)....so.. First question - so my "purchasing finger" can twitch away...what size is the thread? 8, or 10mm secondly, what mirrors do you have on your triples, so that you can see behind you? 2002 955i Speed Triple.
Hi Daniel, Now I know that feeling, especially in the depths of winter when some bling/fettling on the bike is needed in place of actually being able to enjoy riding it! This is also a subject I can relate and contribute too! They are 10mm thread. I think when I was looking 8mm are for Yamaha (and others?). My bike had a very nice pair of bar end mirrors on when I bought it but whilst they looked great, they did let me down on the function side of being a mirror... They also caught on the knuckle protectors on my thicker gloves so I decided to try a change. I ordered a few cheap pairs to have a try with. I did like the function of one pair (with a set of extenders) as they gave a great rear view but under the pressure of speed (no more than 70mph of course...) they loosened themselves off (despite lots of tightening and threadlock) so they had to go. I am currently settled on these Bike-It F3 Carbon mirrors. For me they are a good balance of looks and rear view (although admittedly small and some elbow viewing) and are holding position well. It is a personal choice though so I am not sure that I would 'recommend' them. I was interested in the new Triumph Sport Tiger mirrors but they are rather expensive... I hope this helps. Let me know how you get on. Cheers! Sam
Thanks Sam, this is all good information! I do wonder why no one (or very few) specs detail the horizontal measurement of mirrors....it would make it simpler to ascertain if they are any good!! I have currently opted for these as they look like they may give me the view I want, without adding too much width... https://www.alchemyparts.co.uk/pair...lebar-bar-end-mirrors-with-blue-tinted-glass/ As an aside....if anyone is following my sticky snatch issue....the lubing of my throttle grip has absolutely turned the ridding experience upside down...which means it has gone from awful, to a joy! Such a simple fix; who knew!!
Those looks like a nice set of bar ends mate. Also, Daniel must be short for Danielle, on account of your “sticky snatch”
I have bar end mirrors, and think they are a revelation after donkeys years of lookin at mi elbows. They were on mi bike when I got it, and the only downside is you have to be a bit careful when tha filtering. Since my little "off" at work, I replaced t'round ones for some shaped 'uns, wi blue tinted glass. I wunt recommend t'tinted glass, it meks everythin look dark.
