I just did a quick Google search using only the words Triumph Forum. The forum came right up as the first hit. In this day and age, perhaps we don't need to include the url at all??
Yep, tell people what you're gonna tell them. Tell them. Tell them what you told them. Someone told me that (3 times) as I was preparing a presentation some years back.
Can the Triumph name and style as in the triangular section be used as it’s a registered trade mark belonging to Triumph,,,,that’s if it’s an identical copy
@Tiglet that is a very valid point. Should be able to alter it, maybe use the same style as on the top of the forum? Recently had to ask a company if we could use a logo similar to theirs for another forum, but with different wording. Three weeks of trying to get a straight answer out of them! So, it can be interesting, and to be honest not worth trying to jfdi, legal costs kill forums. Incidentally, the logo was a download from tomcc, you'd think if it was copyright it wouldn't be available! Not being a lawyer I wouldn't dare to guess! I'm not a professional designer or anything, just faffing about with softwares! I'm sure it shows.
Thanks for the link. Don't know anything about the film. I don't get out much. Could you enlighten me please.
It was, indeed, "V for Vendetta" and was released in 2006. It's a comic book interpretation with a great cast list and an excellent script. Hugo Weaving - an Aussie - delivers his part with an impeccable English accent and an empathy for the character that shines from behind the famous mask. Here's a taster Now THAT is a soliloquy! Great film .......... if you like that kind of thing.
It is a valid point, actually, and I don't know how litigious and/or vigilant Triumph are regarding their branding. Probably not that much since the forum's banner would constitute a breach if it doesn't have expressed permission for use. The Triangle next to the word "FORUM" is almost certainly trademarked, and I reckon the "TRIUMPH" script would be considered close enough to the current brand format to constitute an unauthorised copy. I imagine TOMCC has permission to use theirs. Sensibly, you would think that anything that promotes the brand name WITHOUT a profit motive would be good, common sense, promotional "value" for Triumph, and you only have to search ebay to see how many t-shirts and similar paraphernalia are being lsited for sale with one or other Triumph logo on to know that the factory probably doesn't have enough time or resource to pursue any but the most egregious examples. In terms of the current design offering from Master Craftsman Big Sandy, my personal view is "less is more". The motorcycle image on there is, for me, superfluous and to an extent hints at one 'style' of bike. But, you know what they say ........... “You can please some of the people all of the time; you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time."
Wow, I do like. Thank you very much for posting. I will definitely try to watch the film. Plenty of options available nowadays. Sandy, sorry for the complete derailment. FWIW I think you've done a cracking job on that logo. I'd buy a tee with it on.
Me too, to be fair. I prefer it without myself. With this kind of thing you need to present a fait accompli, "it is what it is, like it or lump it". Never hurts to explore options though. Looking at ebay, there are countless uses of the Triumph logo, t shirts, key rings, wallets... As you say, how hard would they fight? Most are direct copies too. Then you look at the butcher who was taken to court for using a back to front R in "sausages R us". Scary. Bloody Geoffrey....
I looked at the triangle logo on Tori (my Sprint) and its not a triangle like above, it's got a flat edge at the bottom. Are they all like that? So, the above is using the forum header logo, which is already out there, not sure about the 'for bikers by bikers' bit.....
No idea... I'm just playing around with some designs, if anybody wants to put any of them on a tee shirt, that's fine by me. Have to say I would like a forum tee myself, rather than an 'event' tee...
