About 20 mins after having the rather large doobie I started feeling quite strange , it felt like I was walking on marsh mellow , lost quite a bit of coordination, couldn’t hold a conversation & walk! Was very relieved to make it back to the hotel without any incident. I must say that that is the first time since being in my teens I have schmoked da doobie and it seems super strong now!
A few more pictures from the DAF factory, I didn’t realise that the car division was bought out by Volvo. The whole range looked the same & used the constant variable drive system. Got to love the one that seems to use conservatory furniture for the interior!
Yes, terrific pics, Billy! Some very "unique" vehicles in the bunch (understatement). As you mentioned, the one with the conservatory furniture for the interior definitely stood out. Thanks for sharing all these fun photos.
Haha! Speaking of going fast in reverse....this reminds me of something I did in my (much) younger days. One summer while I was a college student I got a job as a field inspector for Dekalb Seed Corn. My job was to go into Dekalb's corn fields in southern Minnesota to do counts of silks to help determine when to send in the detassling crews. Anyway, I drove my big old green Ford LTD (aka "boat) for my job. I'd drive into the fields on these dirt--often mud--field roads which were quite narrow. So I'd drive in forwards but had to back out to get out. Well, seeing as there was really no one around, I got so I'd try to see how fast I could drive in reverse. It was quite fun. I think the fastest I hit on one of those dirt field roads in reverse was 60 miles an hour! Wheeeee!
Yes they did! Here is a link to a populair tv broadcast we had late 70's begin 80's over here. That is where most of the DAFs' came to an end.
I spotted this parked at the DAF factory & asked why it was there, apparently Paccar who bought DAF also own Peterbilt & Kenworth, wouldn’t fancy trying drive that on the UK’s road network!
Bikes are everywhere in Amsterdam, you really do have to be aware of them as the cycle lanes are adjacent to the pavement, wander into their world as your peril , nearly got taken out by cyclists on quite a few occasions . All these bikes need somewhere to park, look closely at the multi storey, behind the canal, it’s actually for bikes, makes you wonder how they ever find theirs!
